1977 XR75 piston and rings set

Came into a great deal on a XR75 but it has very low compression....it seems that Honda changed the piston and rings for the final two year run of this cute little beast..

Any source for tthe ring set or piston and ring sets?
RIng set is 13001-153-015

Orrrr would a complete piston and ring from earlier years work in my 77 cylinder OR worse case would a complete cylinder and piston sets from the earlier years bolt right on in place?

PS I did find a set of rings under that PN..in Austrailia, for $115 with $32 shipping.....

HELP

Thanks

Maybe...you just need to adjust the valves..?
Or...rebuild the head completely.
I'd definitely look into the valves for a new to me, low compression engine. Might buy you some time...and, might get you riding TODAY.

First thing I do when I get a bike home is valves, carb, points/condensor and static timing. Found out there were no valve spring retainers or the keepers... no wonder the piston would lock up every so often while I first tried to take a compression reading..a valve would drop down and stop it ....so anyways after remedying that I find <40 psi...

So back to my earlier query... anyone?
Thanks

A couple of questions for you:

Do you have the top end off of the engine yet? If not, can you get a (ballpark) stroke measurement? If the top end is off, an accurate piston OD and stroke measurement, if you can.

If the piston is off, can you measure (what I refer to as) the deck height, as shown in the pic below?

Have you tried xr mini racer.inc ? 866-626-3427 Wiseco makes a piston/ring set for damn near everything, and I am sure they can help.
