Hi everyone new here to the forum . Ive recently got the bug to get my 3 Mini Trail 70s up and running. Ive started working on the 1981. I've tried cleaning my points with paper now I've changed points and condenser which I'm fairly confident I executed properly. I have read one of the other replies on another thread that there should be a factory pigtail connecting the black with white stripe is this correct? Any help is much appreciated. Are there any tell tell signs that my stater might be faulty? Or things to look for?

Sorry I want to be as helpful as I can with giving correct info as I can. I also replaced my spark plug coil because I noticed its black with white stripe wire was broken off next to the coil. I know the replacement coil that I purchased for the 81 works I used it to start my other 1980 Trail 70.

Start with the easy stuff. Are you getting spark? Is fuel flowing? Do you have the kill switch on the handlebar set to 'run'? Those are the easy checks.

If none of that works, start at the stator wiring harness. Check AC volts with a multimeter coming off the black wire out of the harness. This will tell you if your points and condenser are working right. If thats good, plug it back in. Then check across the contacts of your kill switch. It may be dirty or full of cobwebs.

Alright so I've been able to get the to hondas running. But not one of them has now taken on a case of the i don't wanna spark. I noticed that the sheathing that covers the stator was damaged. A a pon further inspection I found the black white wire was literally broken in half I was able to re pin and un solder and re solder in a new matching replacement wire. Unfortunately im still not getting spark.

The bike has a replacment coil and new points. I havent changed the condenser yet tho. I did remove the kill switch and clean it out. It didnt really have much of anything in there.
