True, the 12v bikes have their compliment of unobtainium parts, that can stymie the purist. For the non-purist crowd, there's not a lot about the `90s bikes that is really remarkable and they don't have the collector interest of the earlier models. IMHO, the earlier style carburetors are far easier to work with. So unless your goal is a purist-correct bike, the only thing really better about the 12v models is the engine...and those advantages can be integrated into a 6v engine. The once true advantage of a `90s era CT70 is the motor. It's convenient having all of the upgrades in a single package...12v/CDI, needle bearing cases, ball bearing cam & updated head, long rod crank assembly.

That said, there aren't very many of the 12v CT70 motors to go around and those are the only ones with factory-installed lighting coils. Fortunately, there's a big supply of cheap, used, 12v motors out there...CRF & XR 50s & 70s. Add a lighting coil (aftermarket) and you've essentially got a 12v CT70 motor. Take note and bid accordingly.

I watched that motor auction go off, but wasn't bidding. I thought it was a fair price too.
I snagged the frame. Has a few dents, but it was cheap. Wonder if he has the title? Doesn't really matter I spose.
I bid on the fork legs, but I was bidding low. They were...questionable. The pitting looked like it was probably in the, travel zone..?
I really wanted the wheels, and I was willing to pay. I got caught sleeping on those...missed the auction end, where I was plannin to snipe them. Dang it, dang it, SOAB. No biggie really, just wanted them...

Most of that bike was selling cheap. I was tempted to bid on a couple other things, but refrained.

Well I guess here is one way to lower the shipping cost. Use a bunch of USPS provided packaging, then ship thru FedEx, cross your fingers and hope the "package" doesn't take a hard hit. It took me 15 minutes to get it cut out of there, but I see no new damage. However, the damage that's there is worse than the seller let on in his auction. Nothing that can't be straightened out by a pro tho. Can't complain considering the price. This one is less that 10 numbers away from my 93, but there is one digit that is a X, where mine has a 7..? Emissions thing maybe.

Lol, I once got a 75' frame wrapped in cellophane from WA. Your guy doesn't lack initiative, gotta give him that.

I bought a 93' Fly cover today for 60$ btw...
