Well, I'm not a big baseball fan, but I do like the World Series, and the story behind this one is pretty cool... neither team has been to the World Series since dinosaurs roamed the earth, so they're both hungry for victory. Last night's game was good, the Cubs had a chance to take the lead with a Grand Slam, but that pitcher for the Indians burned the batter and struck him out with style. One heckuva lineup, last night's pitching staff for the Indians, those guys meant business. I still think the Cubs will rally, tonight or back in Chicago, which should make for a good Series. Kind of early to say it, but I reckon my money's on the Indians for the ultimate victory. :32:
The professional home inspection got delayed till Friday, so now I'm just kicking it with Sage the Tyger, enjoying the peace and quiet here in the tall pines. This is the off-season, so we still have the resort to ourselves, which is cool... I need a break from the stress of relocation, and this Pinetop resort is it. Sage & I are relaxing, just waiting to move into our new digs. I'll probably put on a few lbs. while I'm here, but I'll work 'em off when the blessed day arrives for me to take possession of our new home. I'll have plenty to do then, but at least we'll be at our final destination... home, sweet home. Painting the interior, getting the carpeting redone, and getting my furniture and belongings installed will keep me busy for awhile. :30:
In the meantime, I'll watch the World Series, pull more recons of the general area from Pinetop to Show Low, and learn more about this cool geographic location. For instance, there's a city park and aquatic center not far from my future home, and I want to see whether the pool is open year-round. A phone call would suffice, but I want to see what the aquatic center looks like, and what else the park has to offer. I've already been to the Show Low Library several times, and it's pretty nice... not the largest collection of books I've ever seen, but good enough once I get settled in for winter. I also found an archery shop, a cycle shop, a skate shop, a movie theater and a bowling alley, but the bowling alley looks as if it's shut down... bummer.
Meh, with luck, somebody else will buy the bowling alley, I saw a "For Sale" sign taped to the front door. I'm not the world's best bowler, but I like hurling the ball down the lane and having a few beers, not necessarily in that order, LOL. It's a toss-up as to whether my score improves after a pitcher or two, depends upon my "style du jour" and how badly I slide around in those goofy shoes. I do manage to score a strike now and then, and a few spares to boot, so that's good enough for me. I'll always be a better monkeybiker than a bowler, that much is certain. No worries, a good man always knows his limitations, LOL. For me, bowling is all about having fun, and nothing more. :16:
Whoa, I just stepped outside with Sage, and the weather is primo... this place is truly a mountain paradise, I'm very happy to have made this my first choice for relocation. Pinetop itself is too pricey for me, and Lakeside is a bit pricey too, but Show Low is just as beautiful and I can afford to buy a home there. A first for me, buying a home, and hopefully the last time too... Lord knows the home is comfortable enough, or will be once I'm done bringing it up to speed. I hope to spend the rest of my days in Show Low and the surrounding area, there's enough outdoor action to keep a man busy for life, as far as recreation goes. There's work here too, which is good, because I'm not retired, I need to get back to work once I'm done with this relocation. :juggle:
Well, that's enough rambling for now, guess I'll sign off and join Sage outside. That damned cat is loving life here, he stalks wild birds all day on the grounds, and chases rodents too... when he's in our flat, he's the boss, he eats on the glass-topped dining table like royalty, LOL. This unit has a nice fireplace in the living room, very nice indeed, but I haven't used it yet... the cost of firewood is no object, I just reckon Sage will get gripped over the flames and sparks and whatnot. Who knows? Maybe he'll be okay with it, and I'll definitely be using a wood-burning stove in my new home... I suppose I'll try having a fire in here this weekend, now that Sage is more comfortable here. We have electric wall heaters in here too, I've already cut them on once or twice to offset the chill. :4:
Alright, you heroic monkeybiking fooliots... er, I mean crusty mini demons o' dirt, time for some R&R. Holy crap, call CNN, "LOGAN'S RUN" is on TV, been awhile since I saw THAT flick, LOL. Meh, first some sunshine outdoors, then I can catch the movie afterward. These blue skies and fresh air are just too good to pass up, 10-4? Damn, I sure don't miss that smog in the big city, where the birds wake up and go, "CHEEP, CHEEP... HAAAACK!!!" Cut that smog with a knife, but here it's a different story, LOL, the air is so damned fresh it's ridiculous. You could probably bottle the stuff and sell it to those tards in Tokyo and Beijing, perhaps market it in those polluted Indian cities where you can't see your hand in front of your face due to the friggin' smog. Ugh... no thanks, but SOMEBODY has to do it, LOL. :43:
Y'ALL BE GOOD, MY MONEY'S ON THE INDIANS TONIGHT, BUT I COULD BE WRONG, LOL. :3:
