Well, what they're worth is always negotiable. But if a guy like me is looking for a keeper... K3...I can see that this one has never been beat. This bike could be cleaned up, and then cared for. A original (once) survivor with plenty of life left in the motor, for $1500 and a few hours work. These aren't the ones you're likely to find for $500.

Desktop appraisal is complicated and any halfway decent explanation would be beyond longwinded...especially with a midrange specimen like this one. Without firsthand inspection and knowing your way around one of these machines, it's a gamble. The short version, $1500 isn't too far above the low range for a decent-running machine of this era that is straight & complete. Z50 values are generally lower than CT70s however, the difference is close to the cost spread of restoring them. AFAICT, this one seems a reasonable gamble...for the money being asked...and for the reasons already stated.

Assuming that you just want a decent, reliable, rider for the youngster(s), this may be a good choice. I would throw a new set of tires, tubes & brakes at it. Those are safety items that don't age well. Whilst you're taking care of those items, you'll have an easy time inspecting the cables & controls, as well as the wheel bearings.

Nice find, kirrbby. You should charge for your services...as an ebay agent. This one is an early type II export model ST70 Dax. Unfortunately, it doesn't have the demountable front end but, that's not a deal-breaker. Still has most of the unquely Dax pieces, including those miniature turn signals...which are waaaaay better than the hellalame US-spec signals :30: on the K3-later CT70s.

This would make a nice resto, for someone who wants something just a little different. Notice that heel/toe shifter? This one has 1D/2U shift pattern. And, word has it that these early ST70s, being road-oriented, are a little faster than their K0 cousins from across the pond.

    I'd offer $450...
