Is your silver tag early enough to have the metal intake tube off the air box that goes inside the frame?

Yes. I think I mentioned airbox in the description.

I'm not sure if this bike would have originally had the silvertag wheel hubs tho. I added them, and I'm not sure if this vin # number should have them. I kinda figure, better to have too many specials, rather than not enough. It should have a zinc wire keeper too...but I don't have one to put on it. And I forgot to replace the zip tie air boot clamp. Need to find a proper clamp and put it on.

Your hubs are correct. Mine is 104984 with the ST hubs. I'm the second owner for the past 50 years.

    Awesome Tripod!!
#3 and in super nice condition. I love that the vin tag itself is in excellent condition.
I'm very curious about the engine number too. Hope it's really close...I would think it SHOULD be.

I would think at most it would be twenty off. But who knows on day one of production. Mine are fourteen off on 44xx down the line.

It would be interesting to know where first and second bikes went.

My silvertag CT, #46xx is 226 off.
I read somewhere that it was customary for #1 and #2 of...everything, went to the company and designer/engineer.

I would think the 1st one's would be given to the R&D department for testing/crashing, but thats just a guess.

It's any ones guess. Look at the CR 250M's frames start at 1000216 engines start at 001. ST 90 k1 frames 1100012 engines at 001. CL 90's 106956 engines at 001. There are numerous examples in the Honda ID guide even some years of CT 70's and Z50's. My MR 250 is 1005690 engine is one higher so in building 5690 they ended up with only one off? How did that happen.
It is interesting to note that in the Honda Guide the 1972 ST 90s as that one is advertised as started with frame number 1000002 and engine 001 so the very first bike off the line was off already. Be interesting what the next few were engine wise

Interesting thanks for that. You would kinda think and hope that the very start of production they would have the numbers closer LOL. Looks as if you do have a match that it's just as rare as winning lotto numbers!
