Guess I don't really have a thread of my own where I can just post about my bikes. I'm buying all the time. Bikes come and go...bikes come and stay. I'm going to try and post them up, the ones I bring into and out of my garage.
Y'all can feel free to pipe in on this,or any of my threads, with questions comments or just BS chatter. I like it all, and like to see lilhonda busy.

First up is my K3 CT70. I guess I bought this one early October of 2013.

should I buy?

I found these 2 bikes a 1973 and 1983 the guy would sell both for 800.00 do you guys think this is a good deal? he said both were running when he put them away about 3 years ago.

Part of a 3 bike purchase. It's been in my storage area ever since. I've never even cleaned it up. It ran good when I bought it, but the clutch slipped badly. I've rebuilt the clutch now and it has a correct exhaust on it. I've been collecting parts for this bike for years...since before I even owned it. I'm still missing a few before I'll have everything needed for a proper restoration. I brought it home...just so I could look it over I guess. I've been riding it a little too. I need to maybe hose it down with WD40 before I take it back to storage. Maybe save the rust from getting too much worse.
The numbers match on this bike...pretty close match I think. It's titled too.

Of the three bikes that I bought in October of 13, this K3 is the only one I still have. I have been back and forth 5 times whether to keep it and restore it...or sell it, AND the parts that I've collected for it. I'd like to restore it...mostly just for bragging rights, since I don't really want to OWN a restored bike. It would be, too nice for me I think, and no room to SAFELY store a princess. But I think it would be pretty fun to try to give it a REALLY nice restoration. Do my bestest for it. Would mostly just require a focused stubbornness to use ONLY correct parts...plus a bunch of money. Since I would be sending everything OUT for paint, chrome, zinc, etc. The only real skills I would need is knowing what IS correct, WHERE to get the best paint job, best chrome, and then having the skills to bolt it all together without causing damage.

I've probably put less than 20 miles on this bike in the 9 years that I've had it. It's in my garage now, so I could look it over and check it out. Ride it a little and maybe clean it up some. Then it'll go back to storage. Plan is STILL to do the restore. Maybe after I retire.

Newly acquired K2 Z50. Bought this one on 7/25. It was listed on Craigslist for $2500. A hour or so from home. I could see that it was very complete, and original, and nice. I wanted it...I didn't want to pay $2500. I bought it...and I paid...too much for it...with no regrets. It's nice! One owner bike. Came with the original title, warranty card, owners manual, all 4 keys. MOST every part is original to the bike. Muffler guard was repaired many years back. PO said it had been stored for 40+ years. It has plenty of surface rust and corroded aluminum to prove it was stored in a damp area...dads garage the owner says.
This one is too nice for me too. I'll most likely sell it after I do some maintenance and repairs. Swap a couple parts for better ones. Clean it up some. Hopefully make a few dollars and send it off to a good home. This bike has what may be the ONLY undented hardtail gas tank that I've ever seen in person. Clean inside too.

This bike is titled as a 71. But it was actually built in 70. It's a very early K2, and that could explain why it has a K1 type gas cap. I think it has a few "big 8" bolts on it too.
Forgot to mention...the ONLY undamaged hardtail seat that I've ever had my hands on too. I've only put my butt on there a couple/few times, and I was scared when I did. A undamaged Z50 K2 seat with patina, should bring...about...a MILLION dollars at auction.
There IS some rust on the bottom side of the seat pan tho...so maybe not quite a million...but CLOSE!

I REALLY wish I would have screenshot the original Craigslist ad on this one. It was listed for $750, and they didn't even kick the rats nest off of the top of the engine. I loved it.
It was 10 minutes from home. I was thinkin 350. But I knew they wouldn't drop that low until the ad had been up for at least a couple weeks...so I waited, to make my move...lol.
Two weeks ago, I bought it.
I paid too much again...with no regrets again.

That is another one owner bike. Bought and ridden by a horse farmer in Lapeer Michigan, until he fell ill in 1987. Sat in the corner of a barn until his widow found it recently. She said she didn't know it was there or she would have sold it during the first purge...early spring.
She also said that she most likely has some paperwork for it somewhere, in some file cabinet, since her husband "saved everything". I promised to send her pics of this bike, cleaned up, if she would promise to call me when she finds the paperwork.
This thing had heavy dirt, and rust, everywhere.
It's currently in my garage, broke down to nuts and bolts. All that's left whole is the rusty front wheel, that still holds air. And the engine's lower end, which I'm betting is fine and with low(er) miles...enough to bald the rear tire and wear out the sprocket.
The tank is clean inside and has only one, heavy scuff with a slight depression/ding.
The frame and swingarm is pretty rusty and will get hosed with some Rust-Oleum to at least save it for the next owner to strip and repaint.
Most everything else will get scrubbed and serviced and shined up, (lol) with some WD-40 and elbow grease. I just want to keep all of these parts together...this bike, and make it run and stop and shift nicely. Save it. In all of its current glory. It's a good bike. It's just had a bad...35 year stretch.

Mud daubers had filled every hole...the didn't miss many. Including the combustion chamber since the spark plug was missing. And including the top side of the open exhaust valve.
The header was rusted, and the aluminum head casting corroded, badly enough that I had to cut the header to get the muffler removed from the bike/engine. Took a hour to get the header and spacers out of the head casting. Then I stripped the head and bead blasted it...then I decided the head is probably too far gone...just beyond acceptable IMO. Cylinder is ok inside...heavy rust outside.
I plan to stay after this bike...swap a couple parts...save it and flip it. Good clean fun, and a better investment than the stock market.
I paid $501 for this jewel.

I've posted quite a bit about this next bike over the years.
I bought it, as part of a big ol 2 bike basket. A 92 CT70, mostly disassembled, with a 2 piece frame. And a mighty green K4 CT, disassembled, and all of the valuables missing. This was In February of 2015.

The 92 (might have actually been a 91) was pretty much complete, but the frame was/is still, junk. So I searched out and bought a 93 frame. But that first frame didn't look quite right to me, ended up re-selling it to a member here, for cheap. Bought another 93 frame. It was ok, but had some dents and bends. So I put the bike back together on the new used dented frame. Ride it a while that way, swapped a different engine into it for a minute, then back to the original engine, then I found, and bought, ANOTHER, better, 93 frame. Eventually, I swapped the bike over onto this NEW used frame. That is what you'll see in my pics.
I was just never happy with the dented frame. But I still have it.

So this 93... It's just a good running riding and reliable 90s CT, with the stock engine that's never been opened up.
Good one to have around to let friends, family, and kids ride.worry free.

It has some new tires on it that I got as part of a different CT70 purchase. They are Golden Boy...3.00x10 front and 3.50x10 rear. So the speedo ends up pretty generous...also good for kids and friends.
I've doctored and straightened some of these parts out...replaced a few things...grease and maintenance, etc. And it still need a little. But I probably have less than 600 actual dollars here, all in. Original basket lot cost me $500...pretty sure. And I still have most of the mighty green stuff.

Forgot to mention the cheap, Chinezy, $20 turn signals.
I DO have the stockers...most of it. I think this bike came with front OR rear signals...but not both. And they were in poor condition. I know I had to buy stalks and signals for one end or the other. Anyway, I have it all now, but the Chinezys are working...AND, unlike the stock signals, these are staying out of the way. But I probably need to add 20 bucks to my all in price for them, plus another 50-$75 for whatever stock signal/stalks that I had to buy. So maybe $700 all in.

eBay purchase within the last year. 2 softails in really tough shape, plus a bunch of random extras...parts.
Met 2 cool motorcycle dudes...brothers. Maybe it was in the Bay City Michigan area. They had a huge...HUGE collection of bikes all stacked and tucked into a ratty big garage. All sorts of old...some VERY rare, bigger bikes. Only a few minis.
Think I paid less than $500 for everything. This...beater, is one of the bikes. I did get more parts that could go on this one. I have little love for this bike just yet. It's just...it just has potential. I could build something out of it...or I could sell it off and make a few bucks. Potential...lol.
It's in my garage so I could check it out a bit...and I wanted to see if my softail luggage rack IS a actual softail luggage rack...I needed a model. But now this bike needs to go back to storage.

This bike is not supposed to be yellow. K5 Z should be CSB or CTO.
The yellow tank is in pretty good shape tho...with dents.
The cylinder head on this bike, has the same D4 stamp that I need for the K4 Z that I posted about earlier. Soo...I'm eyeballing the head...might rob it, then I can take some time to find a replacement. It's just smart bizness I think. And it would take about 2 minutes to swipe it before it leaves my garage.
Also, I should add... This bike came with a wheel that wouldn't roll, and a tire that wasn't round. So I swapped on a round rolling wheel, so that I didn't have to keep dragging it around. Think it was the front or rear...can't remember now...it was one of those

I have several 50 heads laying around..if there’s a certain letter/number code your looking for and you don’t all ready have let me know and I’ll look through my crap….all my heads are in one box so it will be easy looking..

HM-D4 is the head that I need. The original had lots of corrosion on the outside, and the exhaust pipe was rusted in tight. It looks pretty ok for the most part after cleaning and blasting...but looks pretty rough around the exhaust port, and there is a chunk that looks like it could break out. But if I can get the studs out and maybe weld the chunk to hold it in...I could probably use it.


I took the D4 head off of the yellow bike and was hoping to use it on that orange K4. But after I pulled the cam, I can feel a ridge in the cam journal :-/ I'm sure the cam would rattle or whatever.



So if you have a good D4 z50 head available, I'm interested.

I appreciate it for sure. I'll work something out, one way or another. I might be able to use the original head since everything that really matters, is in good shape. If I can get the studs out, I might just weld up the piece that's breaking out, and run it until I can find another with the right stamp. Or, easier is to just bolt on another head from a early Z. I think I have at least one good one around.

Good to see other people with the disease, my wife thinks I'm the only one, I've spent most of my lunch money over the years on vintage bikes and military jeeps. I have way too many but my 2 sons will keep the collection intact. I just can't kick the habit and continue to drag stuff home on a regular basis. This is my step-thru collection, I have the last year CT70 as you, and many more, this is one of my military jeeps I just restored. Old bike parts are hard to find but it took 10 years to find all the parts for the ambulance, at least I haven't worn out a recliner yet.

Nice collection- that middle CT 110 I assume looks nice as does that CT 70. My wife always laughs at what follows me home- motorcycles,boats,cars etc. You are not alone.....

The WWll MB and GPW jeep are cool, there's a lot of repro parts for them, I had a GPW in need of restoration but ended up selling it, wish I had it back now.
