Anyone have an old zenith allegro console stereo?

I picked up this old zenith console phono/8trank recorder/am/fm stereo and its so good looking,I love 70s stereo stuff. It sounds as good as it looks but my question is about the spring hinge lock for the lid. Mine wont stay up and wont close all the way. Its copper and wore out but if I could see a pic of what a good working one looks like I could file it back into shape. CT70,70s zenith there both 70s so I thought I would ask. Thanks

I have something similar...A house I bought to flip had a console stereo from the 50's-60's...It's cool looking and it even has a police scanner built in which I had never seen before in a console. The turntable,am-fm radio and scanner all work great and the am is still labled wil the WHB call letters as well as the other popular am stations of the day..

I have it in the shop...It's a conversation piece when people come in and most do make a reference to the 70's thing.

Check out thrift shops for a new hinge or CL..They have them for free all the time here.

Those pictures made me laugh. My family had an identical one back in the mid 70's. Those things were huge! I remember my Dad always having to change the needle on the record player. Ours had a big plug in microphone too. Good memories!

That old thing sounds better than my home stereo, deep i mean really low bass sharp highs lacks alittle in the mid range but I has a hookup for remote speakers some minimus7s and its awsome,35wpc of old school power.I got it for 5$ at the end of the month half off sale at the trash and treasure store. I love it! Everything works perfect except I dont have a needle for record player.

Ya its bulky, longer than the 86 suzuki dr100 that behind it and probly weighs more too!

My folks had one kinda like yours...The one that I have from that flip house is a lot smaller...I'll look later for the brand...It's a Fairmont or something like that...It still has the turntable cover on it...The older couple that had built that home had this in their rec room along with a 20' bar...Their friends said that they loved to party even up towards the end of their lives.
