Anyone see these repop Z50' in person

No, I've not seen them but I gotta feeling he's the same guy that runs this CHP site>> Honda CT70 Honda 70 Honda Minitrail NOS Parts and services Kitaco and Takegawa performance parts classic honda minitrails. He also runs this business out of Tyler Texas. I live about 50 miles from there and as far as I can tell he's running this business out of his house, I'm not sure thou. I've not driven by the address he list at the CHP site but I believe its a neighborhood. Next time I go to tyler I'm gonna try to remember to drive by the address he list at CHP. He has somekind of deal set up in Vietnam, where I think he takes the orders for parts sold throu CHP and has them shipped from Vietnam directly to the customer.

CHP has been around a long time and I have had good service from them. I don't think they are one and the same.

new z50

If I had the chance I'd ride the hell out of one to. They look pretty cool, and are half the price of a 30 year old one.

Good luck with those mini-turds folks. They aren't and cant be made street legal and are very cheap quality. If parts break, alot of the Honda replacement parts will not fit, and chinese replacement parts will be MIA.

For $1000, you can find decent originals with parts availability for years to come that will actually be worth what you paid for it in the future rather then sold for scrap.

This is the dumbest statement I have ever read on this site...

We have 2 of those Z50 remakes, called Pitbulls, they are well put together and ride great.

You are comparing apples to oranges. The miniturds are reproductions of the early Z50 hardtails not even made by any of the mainstream chinese companies like Panda or Lifan. The Lifans, Pitbulls and Pandas are completely different bikes.

This thread is about the z50 hardtail reproductions that are sold as a kit here in the USA because they don't meet US DOT or EPA requirements, not the bike you speak of.

Apples to Oranges.

ok.

Those z50 hardtails look pretty sweet. But, they dont meet your standards, so they are junk. I understand now, thanks...

They shouldn't meet anyone's standards. A good amount of parts don't swap between the 1968-1971 genuine honda and the reproduction including tank, front end, taillamp, etc. and it's a poorly made reproduction to boot. I would consider a good amount of the componentry a parts-bin special probably sourced from a number of companies and tossed together in China to make a quick buck.

In fact, I know the owner of the company who designed the bike in China and he ran out of $$ to finish the project and the manufacturer who was making "some" of the parts had to toss this together to salvage the loss to get rid of these.

Technically aren't even legal to import into the USA since they don't meet US safety standards thus the reason why they are being marketed as a non-road legal "kit" bike so the importer didn't have to deal with the EPA regs.

I've seen one of these in person and they are nowhere near the quality of the other "import" copies here in the US market.
