I have a ‘75 ST90 and I am tired of the head light dimming when brake light or turn signals are used. I am looking to change the headlight and tail/brake light to led. I have the replaceable bulb headlight but not having much luck finding an led for it. Have rear lights coming. I ordered some H4 6V leds but the base is waaaay too big. Anyone know of a plug in led for it?

Please remember, the 90 CC bike electrical system depends on the stock lamps consuming a certain amount of amperage to keep the battery electrolyte from boiling. Its a balanced system.

Your issue sounds more like bad grounds or broken small copper wires at the connectors inside the insulation of what looks like a perfectly good wire and connector. Clean up the wiring a little and see what happens. Replace a few connectors after trimming back a quarter inch of six volt wiring. Yes, its tedious but this is 50 year old wiring.

Thank for the reply. Never had an issue overcharging with the lights on or off. Ohmed the ground system and everything was good. Installed led tail-brake light today. Issue solved. Absolutely no dimming of headlight with brake application. Turn signals next. May not draw enough to activate flasher so may have to install dummy load like my truck needed.

I burned out another headlamp bulb. Voltage checked my headlight socket and voltage was between 7.0vdc and 10.0vdc while revving. Started pricing rectifiers. Found a bad ground connection for the rectifier inside frame. Cleaned all related wires and ground. Die electric greased everything. She’s happy now at 6.6vdc with headlight on. Still no dimming what so ever with led brake/tail light. Will ride tonight!
