Has anyone have experience disassembling the original air filter, the one on my bike I’m restoring had the according filter cut off and glass fibre stuffed inside the mesh and I’d like to bring it back to stock.

In particular I need to remove the yellow glue used to join the halves together and fasten the filter material. Is there a solvent for this or should I burn it off?

For what it’s worth I came up with this solution, section a readily available CS65 one using a zip cutter and hacksaw, then heat gun to soften the glue and reassembled with epoxy. One small hole to relocate for the mounting screw and it’s done.
