Installing bearings and timing chain sprocket to a new HKO crank today, and it dawned on me that there is no key for the timing chain gear, only a press fit. How is the cam timed with a sprocket like this??

Here is a crank from a hardtail Z50. I checked another 3speed ct70 crank I have and they look the same. The flywheel key looks lined up with the top sprocket groove. Dont know if the H cranks are done the same. Maybe someone can confirm.

CJ is right. Line up a low spot on the gear with the keyway...keyway points to the low spot. Then just press it all the way on.

Is it possible to just heat it up and then tap it left or right? I've never removed them before.

Don't heat it, you need a proper puller.

Just saw this thread, and I simply wanted to make this observation:

Vitamin C is what we old school locals on the beach called cocaine, LOL...

Not crack, that wasn't even invented yet, just the Peruvian & Colombian flake, 10-4???

Meh, dating myself here, those were the days when we were young and the cr@p hadn't been stepped on a hundred times...

PARDON THE INTERRUPTION, CARRY ON, DON'T MIND THIS OLD FOOLIOT AND ROGUE PAR-TAY DINOSAUR, LOL... :cautious:

More of a Goat or Chevelle man when it comes to muscle cars, but I always liked the Road Runners too... they were CLASSIC, LOL. Didn't know there was such a color called Vitamin C... learn something new every day. Hard enough trying to remember those long-winded three-named paint colors used by Peterbilt...

Oh, yeah, I like old Dodge Challengers too, I'd love to have the one from the movie "VANISHING POINT"---a great flick.
