Cant rebuild fully! No float needle seat in 82 CT70. Leaking a bit still

Hello,

Stock carb on an 82CT70.
I would like to rebuild this carb, but there is one non rebuildable part.
I can get float needles, but the seat for the float needle is part of the carb body.

I have a new one, and polished ( q-tip and metal polish on a drill works pretty well ) the seat up, but I still get just a little leak now and again. The seat is actually part of the upper carb body in 1982.

I think the rest of the carb can be replaced. DRATV parts seem to be the best, so I will use them.

I tried to find a left hand choke, dual input fuel line aftermarket carb that is 42MM intake hole centre to centre but they are just not for sale anymore at all anywhere. Unless you know of where???? I have looked a lot! Ebay, amazon, etc.... No luck!

Any advice on this non rebuildable float needle seat? If I could replace that or deal with it, then the carb is always rebuildable as the rest of the parts are all replaceable.

Help/experience/thoughts much appreciated. I have spent much time on this carb .... :)

Thanks!

Mark

If, as you say, the inlet seat is the carb body casting itself, then there aren't many options. I'd try to lap-in the seat...using the old inlet needle as the lapping tool, and a mild abrasive...such as toothpaste, or Soft Scrub...very gently. Better to make light passes and have to make more of them, than go too heavy and be all-done from the get-go. If you're a little bit lucky, it's just a bit of dirt, or light oxidation that will polish-out very easily. FYI, the inlet needle and seat are precision-fit parts; they have to be to seal with just metal-to-metal contact.
