:headhurt: Simple part, tough solution. Best bet would be sourcing one from another Hitachi, one that's only good as a parts donor. Those, are rare as rocking horse s**t :horse:

Those springs are highly specific. You might try a good hardware store, that sells miscellaneous pieces in bulk; if lottery-winner luck is with you, they might have what you need. Problem is, just being a little off can make a huge difference. Slightly thicker wire, different material, different diameter, even one coil plus/minus is all it takes, then you just plain have the wrong spring. Maybe searching the web for a specialty supplier. You'd likely have to send them the one you have, to make a match possible.

Honda never sold flywheel parts separately, the entire flywheel assembly was sold as a complete, non-serviceable, assembly.

i had the same problem with one missing on my SL 70 until i did a cdi conversation that requires you remove the advancer.
Good Luck! I hope you find It.
I,as well as a few other members could probably use them if you come across a source
Thanks
Ray

Mike_is, the rest of your flywheel good? Keyway is good, points cam too rusted, good threads, stator plate??? Maybe sell the parts from yours and buy a new, complete setup.
I remember someone buying springs that they said worked. Hitachi or Mitsubishi, I don't recall. But they were springs from a rebuild kit....maybe for a timing advancer, or distributor, or something... for a old muscle car.
Maybe try a hot rod shop, or auto parts store.

I have a good advance in a flywheel with a damaged keyway. The damage isn't terrible enough for me to declare it junk. But maybe justifiable, in order to save a few others.

I think it might serve a lot of people if you posted the link to the flywheels. I know I searched long and hard and couldnt find anything. I was however able to repair the flywheel and it works fine.

Whats wrong with the spring? I dont see anything wrong from the pic.

nice. Looks like it would work for some of the flywheels. From what I have seen in the last week looking for the parts, the SPARK ADVANCER mechanism is different. I have seen two different models

one is like mine
flywheel spring.jpg

the other is like this
s-l500.jpg

the one I have has linger springs. Anyone know if both SPARK ADVANCER mechanisms will work for all model 4 speed engines?

Top photo looks like the Hitachi flywheel assembly, bottom photo Mitsubishi but different than CT70HK0. The HK0 Mits advance plate is riveted to the flywheel, non-removable (without heroic effort) and the flyweights are configured a little differently, fitted with plastic bands. Best guess is that "C50M" stamped into the plate denotes the engine from which this specimen was taken.

look at these, both Hitachi

this ones mine

this one I got from ebay

so it looks like three flavors of HK0 flywheel assembly? Two different Hitachi's and one Mitsubishi??

Yes, indeedy...probably HK0/Hk1 flavors. That said, don't take this as purist-restorer gospel, not by a longshot. Honda never sold service parts for these flywheel assemblies. Instead, they were sold as complete assemblies, only, like speedometers. The running change could have been something as basic as one batch getting depleted, another version pressed into (production line) service...like gas tanks (plastic vs steel), handlebars, speedometers (there are 4 flavors of K1, 2 each for 3 speeds and 4-speeds) et al.
