The K1 Filters are shorter than the K0. I have used the K0 filter in a K1 canister, but you just have to cut the K0 filter to length.

Sorry....I misunderstand your initial post, I thought you were just referring to the foam element itself.
As for the canisters, a K0 style will fit just fine. The difference is the internals. On K1 models, they significantly improved the way the canister seals on the end caps, as well as how the foam element seals against the frame/backfire screen providing much better filtration and preventing dirt from getting around the foam media. Easiest way to determine what canister is what, is simply look inside of course. But another telltale characteristic is K0's have 4 depressed dimples on the outside of the can. K1 do not have these but will have 2 rows of spot welds that hold the frame inside.
Short answer is, if you just need a air filter assembly, any of them will fit and work.

One other thing I would consider is if yours is not a manual clutch model get one with the rear brake cable retainer made on to it,,,it will keep your cable from coming to close to the exhaust pipe.. I’ve noticed buying them off eBay or even new some have it and some don’t..you can see the clip in Jhminitrails first pic.
