From what I have experienced is - the sand scratches in the primer will make the silver base sit at a different angle and reflect / exaggerate the imperfections especially once the clear makes them visible .
You’re doing excellent restorations - always enjoy your builds .
Especially like your initial chemical dip . Gentle and in the seam rust removal .

Looking awesome Robert! Can't wait to see it in the Florida sun! Was this one of those "shed find" bikes you got?
No this is one I stumbled on from eBay ,,a guy out in California that dismantled it and shipped it in a plastic tote from Home Depot..the only bike left from the shed find to restore is a k-3 z50 that I’ve been buying parts for.. I’m not sure when I’ll get to it but it is on my list…this color does go off in the Florida sun and will post pics when done

Yes everything you said about the scratches is exactly what I think happened as well,,,they were very hard to see but in the right light and angle they were noticeable and being a rare matching numbers bike I wanted the paint work to be near perfect …

More progress,, ceramic coated oem exhaust pipe, all chrome is new oem Honda or oem Honda parts that’s been rechromed other then the handle bars and the large exhaust pipe guard…new oem keihin carb,,it’s a k-0 coded carb but I’m going to run it for now….I just got my last order of nit pick parts in to finish this build …

Well I finally got it all gassed up and dialed in..runs good and everything works…the mileage on speedo is original and correct for bike…I did have one set back with the piston but that’s a long story,,,also now have title in hand..with gas prices I may be riding around on this one for awhile…haha

Top notch! Glad to see project Unicorn, up and running. That's going to win some shows and would probably bring crazy money at the Barrett Jackson auction. Where are you going to find another like it for sale?

Wow, that is beautiful work. So cool to watch the process and progress. My old K1 could definitely use some love, but it rides on the back of my van for long trips in rainy weather sometimes. Runs great, but she's a working girl, not a show girl. Thanks for sharing.
