I pulled this old ct from a barn about 3 years ago with thoughts of a full restore..after thinking about what to do with it for awhile now I’ve decided to fix all the mechanical problems and replace all the super roached parts with all old but still good parts I have hanging around from ct’s I have restored…the only new parts I’m using are parts that you can’t see like the brake shoes, internal motor parts, inner tubes,,etc..it should be just as reliable and have everything working as any restored bike but look like crap!!! I mainly want a ct like this to test run other motors I have before they get installed in freshly painted frames..I have a title an tag for this ct so I am also woundering what the police will think when I ride by on what looks like an unstreet worthy junker ? I all ready have the motor built with all new 3rd over bore job, piston, valve job,T-chain ect.. and have hand picked the patina grade 50+ year old parts to use..it

will definitely be a lot less work than the others I’ve done recently… check out the old hornets nest that was sitting on top of the motor…lol glad that was long abandoned before me!!

I’ll be using. The tubes in pic’s had patch’s so I decided to get new..those are the original nitto tires I plan on running..one is in good shape the other is pretty dry rotted..anyone out there with a good used nitto tire I’m a buyer for this cream puff!!!

Looks like it would look great with some new fat side white wall tires! Don't give it a complex, be sure to store it outside when you are done.

I'm going to be gone for a week or so...but I think I have a Nitto...or 2, if you don't find one elsewhere.

These are my favorite builds!
I vote if you are putting new tubes on, buy a set of new tires also.
I totally hear what your saying and I’ve thought hard about it but my goal is to make this thing look just like it got pulled from a 30+ year barn rest …and would still run..new tires would kinda mess that up? I have other old tires that are better but there not nitto’s . I plan on installing the one in really good shape on the front.. if I have a 40mph blow out I’d rather it be in the rear. Lol I’ll be keeping a close eye on them for sure.. Sooner or later I’m sure I’ll restore this bike and I will buy new tires then.. In the mean time I’ll be looking for a nitto in really good shape like the front one. I think there’s still some out there..

Got most everything back together just waiting for intake gaskets and battery strap…should get parts tomorrow..have carb rebuilt and ready to bolt on..spark plug has a good spark. The chain guard was missing so I bought this one on eBay. The paints a little too good for this p.o.s.. theres one on eBay now that the patina is perfect for this bike but they want $149!!! No thanks

Turned out perfect. We have seen your brilliant custom and concours work. This makes the trifecta!
Haha. Thanks! It’s much easier when there’s no sandblasting, painting and hardly no new parts!!! Lol I might even try to find some parts with more rust… At least now no one can say I can’t build junk!!! I should have running in a few more days..

Been super busy but I'll be parts hunting soon. Still need a Nitto? Seen one the other day on a rim that looked pretty good. I'll try to get it off of there without scarring it up too much, if you still need...
Yes i do thanks!! Just keep me posted and I can PayPal you for tire and shipping..

patina bike is back alive after a 30 plus year barn rest!!!! After usps lost my order from Dratv I finally got my upper intake gasket and battery strap 15 days late…bike cranked on first kick and runs, shifts, and brakes Perfect…only thing not working is the horn that I can hear trying to work so I know it’s getting power…anyone got any tricks to getting an old horns working? I have a new one but would rather use and old one..I’m also just alittle nervous with the dry rotted rear tire so Kirrbby let me know if any you have are better..I’m going to start cruzing it around so we will see how long it takes for the police to pull me over..it’s all legal so I can’t wait!!!! Lol. Anyone out there with a chain guard that is faded more I will swap or be a buyer.. there’s one on ebay now that has perfect matching paint but the guy wants $149 For the piece of crap!!!! Wow Notice the 4848 miles… someone rode the s**t out of this thing at one time…I think that’s the most I’ve seen on one of these things in a while Maybe ever?

You need to get pulled over on this one and a day or two later get pulled over by the same officer on your carbon green one. Then tell him you stayed up late and got carried away. In my youth we had a high police presence because the village had no commercial business of any kind. They made their money by looking for problems. I got stopped one night on a SL175 which just happened to be legit. The next night I was on a SL125 totally illegal - same officer stops me, recognizes me from the night before and waved me on. We were still in farm country at those times and really were only driving between each others houses but they sure watched us.
Have fun with your "new" ride!

Haha yeah that would be funny but could happen…thanks!, it’s the first time in my life that I’ve ever really wanted to get pulled over…..hope it all don’t back fire on me…like going 32 in a 30mph zone and still getting a ticket!!!
