Diesel? Highly Unlikely

Diesel

I know there's a bunch of bolt in engine/trans replacement solutions for Hondas, but has anyone seen a diesel one?

Don't mean a diesel pull-start and centrifugal clutch type deal, but actual honest to goodness engine and trans package.

As a matter of fact, Royal Enfield made a diesel motorcycle in the 80's, a very interesting bike. It was a 325cc engine with a 4 speed trans. It put out 6.5 horsepower, but a whopping 11 ft-lb of torque. Its top speed was only 40 mph, but could get 200 miles per gallon. It was designed for third world countries like India and It was said the vibration was terrible. The bike was eventually discontinued due to emission concerns.

Yeah, there was the Enfield Taurus, the KLR and the CDI800 which you can see in Hormel's Spam Museum, I was meaning something like a diesel Lifan made to bolt to a Honda.

Any bike where the trans is separate can generally be a candidate for a conversion.

The KLR diesel(M1030M1) was built in the mid 2000's by HDT(Hayes Diversified Technology), only about 300 converted for the Marine Corp, 90mph and 95mpg. There are less than 30 in civilian hands, they are bringing $12-15K if you can find one. I own the gas version(M1030B1), there are a few more of these in civilian hands, I love this bike.
