Sounds like my winter project to get this ball rolling on paperwork! It's so stupid that we can't title a barn find covered in filth 1972 70cc playbike. Especially something You spend more than the bike is worth restoring. You would think we are selling illegal Harleys on the black !market or something... I'll let you know if I need any guidance thanks!! If you're close to Youngstown in trying to organize a fun small cc ride at some point next year. But we all need titles bikes!

Haha mine is a winter project too. Wanted to make sure I could make it street legal before dumping thousands into it.

And up until 4 months ago I worked Youngstown for years. I’m from warren!

I thought about doing that, but did not want to push my luck. The last one I titled over, the line was growing behind me (you know why), and I was afraid someone would "lose it" if I tried to avoid paying sales tax....especially because in my state they use a value about 1/2 of VT.

I got what I wanted and did NOT want to start another round of questions ;)

My Vermont plate came today!!! No registration or sticker for the plate but they did say that could come separate so now we wait for that.

Well as of 20 mins ago my plate and registration and sticker are all here. Painless to deal with Vermont now we tackle Ohio.

I did this in Ohio. It can be done. You will need to bring the motorcycle into the BMV to verify the VIN. Bring your Vermont registration. Also, put the Vermont plate on it. That might reduce the resistance you might catch from the VIN inspector. The guy that verified mine didn't even ask about the missing turn signals or small size of my Z50. He thought it was pretty cool. Once inside with all the paperwork, head to the title office. Explain that Vermont does not issue titles but, only registration for smaller than 300cc motorcycles. They will verifiy in the giant book and issue you a title.
Ask for historic plates. It is a one time fee and good until 2050.

Well I did have to get it vin verified which wasn’t bad even though the entire bike is in pieces so I called the BMv and told them and they gave me no problems whatsoever I brought in the frame and speedo and they filled out the form.

Once I showed up at the title office after them telling me I need a vin verification was a different story. The lady gave me hell. Wanted a Vermont address from where I bought it from a Vermont resident. Told me she knows the whole Vermont loophole and she doesn’t give those people titles. But I had all the paperwork and there is no law rhat says it’s illegal to do this. Unhappy and a bit of arguing I got the title.

Oftentimes, the local office one happens to visit, or even the clerk behind the counter, makes all the difference.

I bet she looked down her nose at you the whole time. They have really lost the notion that they work for us and not the other way around.

Exactly and it’s not like I’m trying to buy grenades. All I’m trying to do is bring a 70’s motorcycle back to life and ride it around town to and from work mostly.
