I have the engine for my 73 project all tore down, the question is what are you using to clean up all the parts, cases, cyl, and head stuff, am I right that the cases get painted cloud silver, cyl- black,is the head assembly left natural or paint silver also, any other detail tips?? Thanks Don:)

The side covers are painted Honda Cloud Silver, the cylinder is black and the case & head are just bead blasted and not painted.

Hi Don. I start with kerosene and a parts cleaning brush. when I get them as clean as I can, I use a little lac thinner, then brake clean and a tooth brush. Then with the cases on the outside I use simple green and a scotch brite pad I don't paint the out side of cases, I just like a clean scrubbed look on them. the cyl, I media blast and paint a semi gloss high heat black, and the head I scrub like the case's. I paint the outer covers cloud silver, with a good clear coat.

I do the same as Grant and I use a .22 cal copper wire bore cleaning brush between the fins. I also put a light coat on the head using high temp paint. I like the way they look painted. I also do not paint the cases. Just polish them.

I used Mothers Aluminum polish on my engine cases, sprayed the cylinder High temp satin black and left the reconditioned head raw cast with no polishing. Side covers were spayed the same as the wheels. Most everyone here uses Honda Cloud Silver for the wheels and side cases, now me...... I roll on a different "set of tires" and used the silver from Jeff at www.Minigunz.com the silver from Jeff has a little more "sparkle" to it, and makes the wheels and case's kind of jump out more.
My opinion for what it worth. :6:
