Frame difference over the years

Question about the difference between a 1974 z50 frame and a 1984 z50r. without a frame number or tag, Is there any visual difference between the two of them. If one bought a replacement frame 40 years ago from Honda, Would it not be stamped with a correct year serial number.

The most notable difference is the large tank mount near the steering stem on the 84. That frame is a little longer than a 74. Honda did not stamp replacement frames.

I have a 40+ year old new replacement frame for a ct70 k-0 and it has no vin stamping..so if they ever did sell the z50 frames back in the day I would guess they would not come with a vin stamping either? The part number for a k-3 k-4 frame is 50100-120-000B so I’m sure at one time they were available?

Thank you I'm new to these bikes. Frame has that bulge. Bought this at a estate sale mostly complete, Has the teardrop tank and rear top shock mounts Are the solid newer style. Seat frame mounts to shock studs. No mounts for push in side covers, Swing arm has the lower chain guard mounts. Engine serial says 84 z50r, But the frame is stamped 309210 which research says is 1974. Did frame numbers start over on the 50r models. Frame was original red, Painted over yellow for some reason. No rivet holes for a model tag on steering stem like it never had one.

According to the Honda Motorcycle Identification Guide, the 1974 Z50AK5 had a frame number of Z50A-5000001~. The last model year with a 6-digit frame number was the '70-'71 Z50AK2 - Z50A-270236~ and is a hard tail frame model. If you have a 17-digit frame number and the last 6 digits are what you posted above, then the frame is an '82 Z50R.
Post some pics of your bike and we will be able to help you more, and include the engine VIN number as well

Visually appears to be an 80s frame. Bottom end of engine sure looks to be mid 80s honda. Is it possible the data plate was removed from the stem, and rivet holes and serial number stamping were filled? A bit of sandpaper on the steering stem may reveal more.

Thank you. Will be stripping frame to go back red. See what shows up.

Trying to align your engine to a frame year but unable to clearly see the first couple of digits. What are the first two digits?

Others have said the frame number is last 6 of the 17 digit serial number making it a 82 frame. So guess I will think it’s 82 with newer engine.
