Frame/Engine Only

I have a couple of K0 frames with matching engines and maybe a spare swing arm and triple tree but nothing else. Is it worth it to piece them back together and restore them or would you have more invested than they're worth?

If you want to make the most money, sell em now as is. Restoring them properly costs ALOT more than they'll ever bring back come sale time. However, if your one of the sick few who grin like an idiot when riding a classic honda mini (most if not all of the members on this site), the smiles per mile more than make up for the excessive money and hours spent to get it to that point

When you say the word "restore", that changes things a little. If you plan to restore a bike back to pristine original condition, you'll spend a few thousand no matter. But I still think you're always better off starting with a complete bike. Your engine/frames are worth...maybe $250-500. I'd sell them off, buy a good complete or near complete bike to restore. When you're finished with it, sell off any unused parts for whatever they're worth.

It'll save you a lot of head scratchin and probably a lot of money in the long run.

When I did mine, dollar amounts didn't matter too much to me; I wanted another CT 70. I probably spent more than I would have paid for the example I finished up with. What mattered to me was I had what I wanted, it looks good, and I did it myself. If you're just interested in dollars and cents there are other endeavors that would be more profitable.

What you have (engine + frame w/"matching" numbers) is the bare minimum needed to have an original (restored) bike that will satisfy most purist-collectors. If you have the skillset, time & patience, you should be able to at least break even, if not realize a modest profit. To realize a substantial profit without cutting corners you'd have to be really well & longterm established in these bikes, already. Even then, it'd come down to cutting corners plus less-savvy buyers as the combo needed to earn more than "McWages"...unless you factor-in time. These bikes aren't getting any newer, more plentiful, or cheaper to restore properly. 5-10 years from now, they could be bringing a LOT more than they are circa 2018.
