This is the kill switch I’m using. Push button type. You have to push the button until the engine dies. 2 Wire. Aftermarket Chinese. I didn’t mess with any of the wires that were connected to the keyswitch. So yes the black one in the headlight bucket is still connected. I’ll do the continuity test and post back. The engine side of the black wire is not connected to anything at present. I just taped it back in with the rest of the main harness wireS, as I wasn’t planning on using it.

I got my DrATV shipment in today:). Give me a day or so to get this sorted. Thanks.

So I was able to test for continuity. I tested the exposed black wire from the main harness that is in the headlight bucket. Clipped onto it and touched the probe to engine ground. It was just like you said. Keyswitch was off and I got continuity, the tester bulb lit up. Keyswitch on and I didn’t get any continuity, No lights.

Looks like your kill switch has red and green instead of black and green. Right now you have the red wire hooked to?? Some wire from your CDI, I imagine.
Tie the black, from your original wiring, into that red and ? connection.

Kirrbby, your amazing! You got me to the finish line on this one! So, I made a "T" or "Y" connector. Cut the hot wire to the kill switch added connectors to each end that would mate up with the Y connector. Then plugged the Y connector into the Black wire in the headlight. Fired it up with the keyswitch on. Turned off the keyswitch and the engine died! Woohoo! Fired it up again to test the kill switch. Pushed down on the killswitch and the engine died. Woohoo!

100% Complete.

Note:
The wire colours on the killswitch on the bike were different than the ones I previously posted In the pictures. That was an extra one I have. The wires on the bike are black and a black with white stripe. But exactly the same style of switch.

Just have to button everything up now. That'll be tomorrow.

Thanks Kirrbby :)

So, the electrical is 100% complete. 12 volt engine, regulated/rectified down to a 6 volt system. Running all 6 volt bulbs and battery. Using a 6 volt regulator/rectifier. The only thing that I don't have is a neutral indicator light. My engine wasn't wired for a indicator light. It came out of a dirt/pit bike with no lights. Headlight works high/low. High beam indicator light works on speedo dash. Speedo backlight works. Tail-light works. Front and back brake light switches work. Kill switch works. Horn works great too. Finally the keyswitch kills the engine when turned off. Thought i'd post a couple of pics of how I set up the handle bar controls. 4 speed manual transmission so I added a clutch lever. Mostly after market stuff for the handlebar controls. The front brake lever is wired for the brake light switch just hard to tell in the pic.

Oh yeah, I also purchased one of the headlights that you are able to exchange the bulbs in from DRatv. In case I decide to change it over to a 12 volt set up.

Just a little post build update. Have started the bike in cold weather many times and it responds beautifully. Zero problems with the electrical. Headlight and taillight burn nice and bright. No bulbs or fuses have been blown. Keyswitch and Kill button work great.

Made a Black Friday purchase and they came in earlier this week. Can't wait to put these new heavy duty shocks on. I'm sure it will be a big improvement over the old tired original 40+ year old shocks! Just too cold right now (-15* Celsius). I'll get them on later this week and post pics. Also got a new speedo cable.

Then the only thing left is the exhaust wrap. That'll be soon.

Just a few more post install pics of the new shocks. Pretty much ready for the Trails! Of course I had to take it for a ride on the snow and ice covered streets in front of my house! No wipe-outs, but I did have to put both feet down a couple of times for stabilization and safety:). It was fun! Much firmer and better ride.
