Finally spring like weather up here in the North pole. So I took the '81 CT out of storage & first kick she fires up!!! No problems. Everything works. Then I take my 2014 Suzuki DR-Z400SM out of storage & hit the starter &.....the floats stuck! backfiring. oil coming out of the airbox!!! 36 year old CT, no problem. 2 & half year old bike, lots of problems.
No wonder I like classic bikes.

FWIW, with the small Hondas, winter storage prep is as easy & basic as it gets. Drain the entire fuel system dry, rotate the crank until you feel compression (both valves closed) and it'll start & run same as it did before gong into hibernation. Drain the old oil, engine hot, before parking it for the winter and you'll keep the lower end free of sludge and damage from acidic compounds that can form over time...which will keep the engine healthy for decades to come. That's it, not just in a nutshell, that's all it takes to safeguard the engine & fuel system.

With newer machinery, it's not so simple and that says a lot, imho. Simplicity has its advantages:clap2:

Got the DR-Z all sorted out. Carb was gummed up & had water in it. Also a vacuum hose into the carb was cracked & disconnected. Dropped in a K & N filter to replace the oiled foam filter. Then took her for a ride.:1:
As soon as we get a good rain to wash the salt off the roads the CT is coming out!!!:38:
