    Hello,
Picked up a frame set and tank from a good friend this week.
Already nicely powder coated and there is no evidence of serial numbers I can find. He said it was a 69,
    - It has rivet holes for the missing VIN tag, so blacktag/ not silvertag right?.
    - It also has 5 hash marks for the chain adjuster.

Not a huge hardtail expert so anyone help verify it's a 1969 or ???

    Thanks,
    Mike

There should be #'s on the left side by the rear axle hole(I think).

yeah, they can't be seen and I don't want to wreck the beautiful powder coat to see if they are under there.
The fact that you can see the chain adjuster marks, but no numbers probably mean they were sanded off or heavily powder coated.

    It's a K1, blacktag...rivet holes are for black tag.
K1 because it has the battery box mounts, rear brake cable stay, and NO foot brake pedal mount.

    Thanks Kirrbby,
Always on the spot. Ideas where it might fall?
    Is 69 reasonable or 70?
I know there was something about the taillight mount and 5 or7 chain adjuster marks that were indicators, but can’t remember the details.

The TL mount that you have is the newer style...matches the K2's. Still could be made in 69 tho. I don't know when they changed. I have a parts manual at home that might tell me. I'll try to remember to look tonight.

My parts manual didn't have any clues as to when the TL mount changed.
