FOR SALE Help on pricing a Honda CT70 replica - Lifan

I inherited a 2006 Lifan LF110GY-3 trail bike last fall. I've got it set up now and running well. I'm looking to sell it as I am too big for it. Anyway, I'm looking for a ballpark range of pricing to sell it. My cousin bought it, and must have tried setting it up. It had around 1.6 miles on it when I got it. I had to clean the carburetor from the old gas that was in the tank. I also adjusted some of the control cables, changed the oil, tightened nuts, aired tires, etc.

Anyway, I know that the original Honda trail bikes are collectible and fetch a pretty good price. I couldn't find much info on the Lifan trail bikes apart from some reviews. It seems like their engines are popular replacements for CT70's. Also, he didn't have it titled and we couldn't find the bill of lading (not sure if mini-bikes have this). I put about 40 miles on the bike in the last week as I was adjusting the carb, and setting it up.

What would a fair price be for a bike like this? Also what is the best place to sell a bike? I'll add some pictures later tomorrow.

thanks for any info or advice. -John

I've seen them in my area listed for 600-1100
And one sold on eBay for...I think 12 or 14 hundred with very low miles.
What part of the country are you in??

These guys sell clones...or used to. You might get some info from them.

Thanks for the info. The bike is located in southeast Wisconsin. Here are a couple of pictures. I couldn't find an operators manual or service manual either online.

It all depends on how difficult it is in your state to register a bike with no paperwork. Here in CA, it's only worth is its parts. Maybe $500. You can buy a brand new street legal CT70 clone here for $2000. They're fun little bikes, but certainly not collectible. I had one years back that couldn't be registered in CA. I bought a bare CT70 frame with a title, painted it, got repo decals, and swapped all the Chinese running gear and parts over. It was then a real "Honda" with an 4 speed manual, electric start, 125.

Thanks for the info. I think Wisconsin may have a provision for titling in my situation. I am curious though, if I buy a new Chinese bike, what would the documentation look like? I'm assuming my cousin must have mail ordered it? Is it a bill of lading? I purchased a new car out of state and they provided me with some sort of non-title document that allows for the original titling. I will try contacting my other cousin and see if she might have kept it with his other files.

I think this would be a good bike to own...
NO reservations about modifying it, or bolting on cheap aftermarket crap.

Ever wished you had a windshield on your CT70??
Maybe cell phone and beer holders?
Tach fuel and temp gages
Highway pegs
Aux tank...both sides
Honky horn
Saddle bags
Trailer hitch
Sissy bar
Ape hangers
Mud flaps
How about a 190cc power plant?? With catch cans and coolers all around...linked by shiny hoses and brackets!!
FUN STUFF!

Check with your state's DMV office, they can help you on licensing and requirements. Here in CA, they can look up the VIN and tell you quite a bit, but registering a bike without paperwork is a real pain. Maybe in your state it's a piece of cake. Also, in the case of my Chinese clone, the model was never certified for highway use in California. For purists, the Chinese stuff is crap, but in all honesty, these days, the stuff is pretty good. My YX140 and similar Lifan engines have been in production for over 20 years and have proved their reliability. Even all the new Honda mini motos are made in Thailand, not Japan.
