Hi All
I have a few questions about my Honda Chaly - Its a 1978 6V - I have owned the bike for around 2 years. Its mostly stock and has been a dream to ride. However over the last 2 months it developed a back fire on deceleration.
I completed the following
- Carb cleaned (by me). Then cleaned a second time by a mechanic that had an ultra sonic cleaner
- Changed the airlifter
- Replaced the seal going into the head
- Checked exhaust for holes and found x2 tiny pin holes that i repaired and then i cleaned the exhaust
Result? - Still backfiring
The plug looks like its running rich but the carb seems tuned. 2 turns out! It can be difficult to start but i new plug starts it easy first time.
I then saw a very interesting video on YouTube of a trail90 in America that had almost exactly the same issue and the guy recommended changing the condenser. I thought what have i got to loose its a £12 part. My mechanic booked me and should have been a 1 hour job.
The issue - He went to take the flywheel off to access the condenser and the bolt had threaded. He had to tap and dye the thread to get the remover on but the crank seems to have been hit with a hammer at some point and the flywheel doesn't want to come off. The flywheel is good and stuck which means he cant access the condensor to replace it
Questions i have are
- Any suggestions on how to get the flywheel off?
- If i cant get it off what are my options? Would an ST70 6V engine fit my bike if i have no choice?
- Any other suggestions on the backfire? Can i get away with not pulling the flywheel off at the moment and try something else to get rid of the backfire
Im going to have to deal with the flywheel issue at some point but even if i can get the backfire to stop that would be a bonus. I only pleasure ride the bike in the summer so only do around 300 miles a year.
Any help would be appreciated.
