Honda z50 K2 long rear fender

Ok so, the long rear fender is rare- I get it. Is that was so many resto jobs you see on a honda z50 k2 bike (oval badges on gas tank) have the K1 fenders on it? Just because they cant find the K2 fenders? Or did some of the K2 bikes come with the k1 fenders??

I agree... Don't really know either. Maybe some owners find the shorter rear fender to be nicer looking, or maybe their longer one was damaged and replaced with a less expensive K1 unit.

I've seen a lot of k2 rear fenders that were cut off short like a k1, probably after a sweet wheelie. The mounting bracket is different between k1 and k2 fenders so it makes it easy to spot a 3/4 length k2 fender. Sometimes folks try to sell them as a K1 part.

As usual, kirrbby is correct (your rep power can't be high enough). IMO the long fender naturally lends itself to damage from failed wheelies or just backing into something.

Here is a photo of one of my K2 bikes with a crinkled and hammered out rear fender:

As stated above, sometimes the unique k2 long tail rear plate/light bracket is mistakenly advertised as an earlier part. I have benefited from this twice by noticing what the photo showed me (was actually k2 bracket).

I agree that the shorter stubby fender is more practical and less easily damaged, but I am sucker for originality.

This photo will probably put me on a federal watch list somewhere:

Lately, a repop sold on ebay for 100.00 more than the re-pop I last purchased getting the monkey off my back in our house. I think they are made in Vietnam, but the one I have is very nice and similar to my NOS.

Nice stash B&CMC.
The repop I have may be the same as yours. It was aparently made here in the US, years ago, by a guy.... some guy was making like 2 different parts for Z50's I think. Only 2 parts that he made. He sold a bunch, and they are very well done. But, there are some crappy ones out there too. DR411 sells one. I wouldn't buy a repop K2 rear fender without seeing pictures from every angle. The backside tells the tale.

There could be more than one remake. I met a guy that had them done from here in central IA. His main interest is classic car emblems and trim. I picked up a couple boxes of NOS parts left over from his restorations. He said they took forever to sell and had no more made.

Definitely more than one. I've seen at least 2 and I think 3 different versions. The newest is the dr411 fender that looks Xtra long to me, judging by the 2 or 3 pics he shows.

>>> I'll bet if your guy sold them cheap they would sell. The one I have, I've seen listed starting at $200. VHM has more than a few, and I think he said around $275. They came with a hardware kit when new, all I have is the fender.

Yeah DR411 doesnt have the best rep. Then you look at his ebay feedback and his grasp of the English language is negligible at best.

I just have to keep my eye out. One on ebay a few months back sold for $45 original K2 fender a bit beat up but nothing that could not have been fixed.

Hey and sprinkles on Halloween cookies- My kids did that this past Halloween... they were orange and black sprinkles thank you very much.

Lol, ya but orange and black Halloween sprinkles on CHRISTMAS cookies. Now that ain't right!

--it would be almost as bad as mixin fruity pebbles and cocoa pebbles in the same bowl.
