Wasn't your Benz a diesel? My '12 Honda Fit gets low 40's on the freeway, but so does my wife's '16 stick shift Honda HRV. Honda 90 on the freeway?! You got more cajones than me. My Monkey flirts with 60 mph, but one wind gust or hill and I'm downshifting doing 45.

Where's the chant of " no blood for oil" or " Halliburton Halliburton Halliburton" Like the good ol days.?
I see out whiner is lying again, doing things and blaming others for what he does .

It must be awful to be so afraid .

Come to think of it I have a 40 year old car. But it doesn't pollute anything like a diesel, gets 22 mpg ( I can get 10 mpg real easy) and does 0-60 in about 6 seconds instead of 60. No idea how many miles are on it. It has about 30k miles on its 3rd engine.

Yes, my old Mercedes are all Diesels .

I'm down to two now .

At one point I had a 1975 W107 350SLC with stick shift and V8 gasser engine, that was a super fub car but it was rusty so off it went .

I've not done a mileage check on the Honda but it's amazingly good, I just don't like the car .

I should prolly stick the fresh engine in my '59 VW Beetle, those get an easy 32 ~ 35 MPG consistently and for some odd reason I still like to drive them, being death traps doesn't bother me at all but I do worry about my Sweet, I'd be bereft if she got hurt riding in my jalopy .

When first I bought this 240D it got high 20's MPG's in town and 32 + on our Desert trips fully loaded with the AC in ice cold, I don't know why it's dropped into the mid 20's now but it always starts and goes, is nice to drive (sort of like a BIG 1950's VW but safer) and doesn't smoke like so many do, mostly because of improper maintenance .

My 2001 Ford Ranger base model pickup with 130,000 miles, 2.4L 4 banger and 5 speed manual box get 25 MPG no matter how I drive it, that's fine, I like it too , nothing fancy to break .

FWIW, the good old days weren't as much as you'd like to think .

I really did love .27 CENTS the gallon though .

I wonder if many Americans will try Motocycles or Mopeds again like they did in the 1970's .

I never lost my love of Tiddlers, I still have a ride bike bikes but think I'll prolly sell them on and just keep the Tiddlers .

My '65 Ghia is the 2nd biggest gas hog I got. Gets about 11 mpg on premium, and isn't happy when the temp's over 90. But it does get out of its own way. Hey Nate, ya going to the Met picnic this Sat.

Any VW that gets less than 20MPG's has a serious problem, if it doesn't like hot weather it has a really serious problem, tell me the engine and stuff and I can walk you through, all very simple .

I thought the Met Picnic was last Saturday .

I see honesty, facts and truth are still not on someone's menu.......

The Met picnic is this Saturday. It would be fun to bring both Mets, the 4 wheeler and the 2 wheeler. The Ghia's biggest problem is getting me into trouble. It's got a 2110 cc stroker, Engle 120 cam, ported big valve heads, 10 lb flywheel, dual 44 Delortos that flow 600 cfm each. It could use MSD, but I've thrown enough money into it already.

NOW I understand......

I like to build 'em stock so I can run 'em as hard as I want across the Desert.....

The Spring T.T. Run is coming up, I don't know if you're into that sort of thing .

Fuel prices in Southern California continue to hurt....

I don't understand why Ford made cheap pickups trucks (Rangers) that need supreme fuel to run properly........

I never seem to leave well enough alone. When my CT70 was new and stock, it topped out at 42 mph. And to me that seems totally unacceptable. Lately I've been messing with my wife's Metropolitan scooter trying to get it to do 40 mph, believing that 40 is as fast it would ever need to go.

You put premium in a 4 cyl Ranger? Why? I had a 99 4 cly 5 spd Ranger and I never put premium in it.
Oh, ya you like paying exorbitant price for fuel. You voted for it. But, rejoice. CA fuel tax is going up on July 1. Yaaaa! A whole lot of us knew this was coming....

Lying again as always, you'll never be a Conservative this way .

In any case, if you only putter around town in a Ranger it'll do okay on regular but if you work it or like to zoom across the Desert it'll run noticeably better on premium fuel , get better fuel mileage and so on .

All well knows facts for those wo are not just chronic whiners and liars .

As if you'd care .

FWIW, a buddy of mine bought a first generation Ranger and told me it needed premium fuel, I didn't believe it until I bought one and read the manuals (can you read ? ;)) and then tried it on mine, it makes no sense to me but that's how Ford did it .

You may not be aware enough to notice any difference, any Mechanic will I'd have thought a Motocyclist would too but maybe not 🤔 .

I had an 18' Crestliner Superhawk with an I/O drivetrain. I towed it with my Ranger on 87. One day, I had the wife and my 2 daughters in the back seat and on our way home from the lake I stopped at the machine shop that was working on my 350 Blazer engine. I put the block with the crank in the back of the truck and cruised home with the A/C on at 55-60 mph.

I'll ask again ( what will this be like 5 times) and still not get an answer, what am I lying about?

Geeze Louise, is he really this dumb? Or, does he just know his supporters? I think its a bit of both. This is a guy that has no idea what it means to work for a living. He worked a private sector job for about 2 years in the early 70's, and since then has just been a government suck-a**.

I remember him signing an executive order to shut down the Keystone pipeline. The EPA has restricted refineries from building new ones for years. Existing refineries have been modernized per regulations. He could easily write an emergency drill/refinery order and reinstate the keystone pipeline. That pipeline, by itself, was capable of 100's of millions of barrels/day.

I don't think it's the fuel. It's 27 years old, and it's a GM car. LOL You should get on your knees, look to the sky above, clasp your hands in front of your face and thank the Lord that the car runs at all.
LOL. I remembered you. Well the bitch expired. Hit 237K. Shelled its tranny going from 1st to 2nd. Still stuck in 1st. BTW, no FN REVERSE!!!!!
I like how things work out for the good of all...I guess. Ran into a guy that has the exact same model AND color for his daughter to be 17ys. I was actually happy that it would be used for parts. I dreaded the long ......slow....drive to the salvage. The ONLY thing wrong with that car IS the tranny. Since it had near new tires, I swapped them with some Gran Prix wheels( that needed tires) and put them on that car. I stepped back and ......laughed my ass off!!!! This old car looks like Grand Latino SHAGGON WAGGON.LOLOLOLOL
