Usually spraying starting fluid around the 90 degree intake pipe fittings, both at the motor and at the carb while bike is at a idle. If idle goes up or down when its sprayed there is a leek. Some leeks will also make a squeak/whistle noise when motor is running or when kicking if it fires or back fires. Careful when spraying the starting fluid, if your spark plug wire is damaged and close to any metal it could be sparking there, when the starting fluid is added in the area instant flames.

Classic symptoms of an intake (vacuum) leak include hard starting, especially when cold and a weak/unstable idle.
