Is anyone still using eBay?

Whaddayaall think of eBay lately?
Seems to me that it has pretty much had a quick death as far as minibike parts and such. My watch list is pretty sad. Most everything that does get listed, is listed as a buy it now sale. Auctions...what made eBay famous, and fun...are pretty rare now.
I haven't sold a single thing on eBay this year...since the tax law change. And I buy...maybe 2 things per month there. Used to buy 2 or 3 things per week.
I'm a eBay guy, and I'm still watching...but I think I'm watching it die.
I'm not sure if it could be a good time, for a guy like me, to SELL a bunch of stuff on eBay?? Like maybe there is still a big audience/market...but not many sellers..? Raise prices to cover the tax man...list a bunch of parts and just wait for them to sell..? It seems that they always DO sell...eventually. BIN listings ALL run for 30 days now, and then eBay just re-ups them, indefinitely.
IDK. If us minibike guys lose eBay as a parts source...buy and sell...well...that's gonna be a big loss.

Nope! I try and stay away from Ebay! It died along time ago for me. Living in Canada to buy something from EBay, shipping costs are prohibitive and absolutely kill any purchase.

Why wouldn't Canada have/build it's OWN eBay scene? Canadian buyers and sellers...Canadian shipping...Canadian scene?
How do Canadians buy, sell, and trade?

They do have Ebay.ca, which is pretty much the same. It will show listings from sellers in the states as well only if they have selected to sell parts internationally though. And of course listings from within Canada too. There are actually alot of parts sellers from Quebec area on Ebay I find. And a handful out in western canada too. There just isn't AS MANY overall compared to the USA. I don't know why, but I can only assume that it is related to the number of bikes sold in Canada vs the USA back in the day.

For me, I use Ebay for buying parts. Depending on what I want or need at the time, sometimes it's the only option. I'm fortunate enough to be an hour from michigan and I have an address there to have parcels shipped to. So when I get a few there, I will go over and pick them all up on a Sunday, and of course fill my guts at the Cracker Barrel for dinner before I head home! And hopefully I don't lose my lady in the gift shop!

Has to be a pretty special part for me to order from eBay. EBay.ca as mentioned doesn’t have as good a selection. I use Kijiji a lot. Like Craigslist? I think. I am also lucky to have a collector in my city that I use alot who has over a hundred small bikes in his inventory. He is very good about helping others out with parts. There are a lot of farms in Alberta with a lot of old bikes/barn finds. That is where I have sourced a lot of my bikes.

That are many things that have made ebay not what it used to be. Remember the days when a search for Honda ct70 would turn up 3 pages of results, now it's 10,000+ results because of listings like generic mirrors or saddle bags. Have you noticed if you have buy it now listings that renew automatically they charge you when it renews. Don't know if ebay is going to die all together but used parts might not be as common. Has anyone filled out the letter that ebay sent out that you can send to the government explaining the disappointment in the new tax law.

Ya I did do that. I don't think the government is going to care much about that tho when they start counting their money.

Trudging thru PAGES AND PAGES of cheap china generic JUNK before you find a ACTUAL CT70 part. It's ridiculous!! How many listings do they need for the SAME motorcycle cup holder. If they have 100 to sell, can't they sell them all with ONE listing!!!
That shit gets my goat. I swear loud and often at eBay these days.

I found a nice, nos rear hub for 60 plus tax, 15 to ship yesterday. Just in case if I do not like that solid mount hub. Someone else has one for 150, probably still for sale. Sell on ebay? No thanks! I stopped doing that, several years ago. For reasons we all spoke about when the crap hit the fan way back.

Want a laugh? Type in candy apple red 1972 trail 70. Only $7500 for this one. What a roach! 50 dollar exhaust, lousy paint job, El Cheapo taillight setup, off what I don't know? Spray painted the head silver and all the nuts/bolts, cheap carb leaks fuel. Float height set to 25mm. Non-matching ignition and helmet lock. Has a title, is the only thing going for it. Sun City Fla.
That guy is on crack if he thinks this is a professional restoration. Looks like drct70411 decals. Get out of the sun buddy, you are suffering from a heat stroke!

Ebay's still ok, as a buyer, certainly not as a seller. See something you're sorta interested in, put it on your watch list and chances are you'll get an offer with an additional discount. Needed some 1/4-20 x 3/4" set screws, $2.79 a pair at Home depot, got 140 for $20 shipped from ebay. Also find something from a vendor with an ebay store. Track the actual business on google and buy from them direct for less. Lastly, ebay's refund policy still favors the buyer.

X2. I am tired of having to work through pages of carb air screws, shocks and the like. For part suffers, if your posting gets stuck in the middle of page after page of crap, not a chance it will sell. I sell some stuff on e-bay but it seems no one wants to "bid it up" but rather BIN and get it right away, The ~13% cost to sell stings a bit even though the audience is large.

$7500 is just the starting bid. You'd have to hope that no one out bids you.
