Hello, I am looking to see if someone has or knows where my grandfathers 1981 CT70 that he sold is. I am not entirely sure when he sold it, probably either in the 90’s or early 2000’s. The VIN number is JH2DD010XBS201861 and the motor number is 5201833. He bought it brand new and we still have the original manual and owner identification card plus a picture of when he had it. It was sold with a title in Norwich, New York. I do not have the money to buy it right now as I am only 16, but I would love to buy it one day. If you have any information on this bike please let me know!

I wish you luck. I will certainly try to keep a eye out for you.
You might be able to do some searching...thru title checks/vehicle history...there are some websites that do that. Some are free...some require a subscription. You've maybe heard of, Carfax (sp).
Maybe your local DMV, or police station could tell you if it has a active registration, last time the title was transferred, and where, etc.
You might also want to post up a similar thread over on planetminis.com ...another popular Mini Trail website.

Thank you very much, I have tried some of the free title checks with no results. I will definitely have to do more digging, and I will post this in that other thread.
 
I know PA does it and check NY state - there is a form and they do a title search on the state records and will identify last known owner. Given your location I’d do both Ny and PA. I wrote up my experience years ago on this site that resulted from my search and me giving a CT70 that I picked up back to original owner. Turned out bike was stolen from grandfathers barn when he was a kid in the ‘70s. He still had original paper work and a few parts that were off the bike when stolen. When we met, he started telling me how some of the dings in the frame got there. Good Luck
