Kick start issue

Once again, THANK YOU to everyone who helped me through my kickstart/clutch issue! I dissassembled my clutch and , quite frankly, didn't find any mistakes. But after reassembly, the kickstart engages the crankshaft, so I'm ecstactic! Now I'm focused on putting the finishing all of the odds and ends on this mini bike and try to start it! I'll keep you posted and thanks again!

I wanted to give you all a big THANK YOU for helping me salvage my 73 K2 (vin 2101474)! It was a 15 month labor of love and I learned a BUNCH, mostly from you all. This bike was locked up, missing 2 teeth on the 1st gear and 4 teeth on the kickstarter-it was destined to be a parts bike and I got it running for the first time in probably 20 years! Every There isn't 1 nut or bolt that I haven't touched and all of the OEM chrome polished up well. The only issue that I'm having is an rough idle- I have a turn the idle screw up to prevent it from dying. The valve lash and timing are set as close to perfect as I can get it. I rebuilt the carb and the float is set to specs. I've adjusted the air screw all of the way in/out and it changes the idle but it doesnt smooth it out. The throttle response from idle to WFO is perfect. Let me know if you have any suggestions and again, THANK YOU ALL!

what size slow jet is installed?
Pretty confident that all the crud was broken loose and blown clean, but I dont remember what oriface size I put it. I kind of remember replacing it with one of same size that was originally in it. Do you think that might solve the problem? Should I go up or down?

I’ve had a couple stock original carbs that I never could get to run the bike perfectly.. cleaned them,, checked all the jets,,, swaped some parts from other carbs and still got the same problems,,on an off the bike 4 or more times,, I ended up buying a cheap Chinese carb just to prove the problems were carb related and they both ran perfect with new Chinese carb…I’m not a big fan of Chinese carbs for an all original bike so I bought some lower priced originals off eBay and cleaned an rebuilt them… Im thinking and woundering if someone in the past jacked in the air screw super tight and maybe cracked or flared something deep inside the carb,,,, or maybe I’m just missing something? I can’t knock Chinese carbs being all the bikes I’ve used them on ran and started amazingly . the fuel lever (on/off/ res ) pointing in the wrong direction also drives me crazy for some stupid reason….lol

I always use a China carb. The old style L/S dual inlet PZ19mm, and the good thing Robert, you can easily reverse the petcock by simply unscrewing and flipping it. Original carbs are in a box. No doubt kids ''jacked'' the screw on the originals.

Easy peazy.
