lifan 125cc rear brake light

I bought a Lifan 125cc engine to put in a 1980 CT70. Is it possible to use the stock wiring that came with the Lifan engine and be able to run a brake light. I'm going to use a rechargeable led headlight so I only need to be able to run a brake light. I have a pink and white wire that is not being used.

Pink and White should be a/c. They are hot when the engine is running. You will need to make sure you have 12 volt bulbs. And if your using a battery it would need to be 12 volt. Some other things you will need are a rectifier and a pig tail. Dratv website has instructions for this. And the parts. I’ll post some pics later.

Would you be using the original taillight setup. Is the original wire harness in the bike? Wouldn’t need to have a battery. You would have to rectify/regulate the a/c current going in. Because when you rev it up you will probably blow out the bulbs. Taillight and brake light would only work with the engine running.

The original wiring is not in the bike. The only wiring is what came with the lifan motor. I bought a key switch with plug and a kill switch with plug and have them connected to the wiring harness that came with the lifan motor. I am going to run a rechargeable led headlight. I want to run some sort of a rear running light and have to wire in the rear brake light switch. I am fine with it only working when the engine is running.

If you go to the DRatv website and go to the custom and engine swap section look at the sub-w-4 harness. You should be able to wire this into your set-up.

Most of the Chinese- lifan motors have a yellow and white wire that are A/C. Yours are pink and white.

My thoughts are, you would have to split the hot wire again after it comes out of the regulator. You would run one hot to the brake light switch, most have a black wire on them and a green with yellow stripe. Run hot to the black wire then run the green yellow wire to the green yellow on your taillight. When you pull the brake light Switch you should get illumination. Run the other hot wire to usually brown wire on your taillight. This will give you running lights. The taillight usually has one more wire coming out of it-a ground wire usually green. Connect it to the frame.

Thanks again for all the information. I need to order a brake light switch, regulator and tail light. I'm not the greatest with wiring but you broke it down enough that I will be able to figure it out.

Keep everything 12 volt. If you order a CT 70 taillight it will probably come with a 6 volt bulb that will need to be changed. Easy to get from any auto parts store or DRatv. Regulator needs to be 12 volt also. Any CT 70 brake light switch that looks like the picture will work. 👍3E053598-838B-4054-AD90-72C784C92E00.jpeg
