Apologies in advance, I've tried to search for this but the search engine does not like short phrases.

If I'm putting a 12v lifan engine in a 6v bike, why not just convert the entire bike over to 12v? Yes it requires a new battery, relays, and new bulbs, but the various switches etc, don't care whether they push 6v or 12v across them.

Am I missing something? This is in regard to an 81 C70, but it should be the same for any 6v bike.

That IS what most folks do...convert the entire bike. Some keep the 6v bulbs and gadgets by using the 12v to 6v regulator. You could do it either way tho.

I'd go 12v, preferentially. Everything is easier to deal with in 12v flavor...bulbs, batteries, relays, etc. An, yes, you're 100% correctamundo...the switch DGAF:whistle: whether their fed 6V or 12V.
