This one probably ought to go in the general folder. Don't think it makes much difference if the bike is Honda or repop. If you like, I'll move it and leave a redirect here. IMO, you've hit upon a great topic.

The undisputed one-way champ has to be our own chuckklr04. As I recall, he made it most of the 1700 miles from his home in LA to Sturgis before his motor gave out. Second place probably belongs to Jared, a.k.a. fatcaaat. He'll have to provide the details.

I've done a number of 150 - 250 mile afternoon rides. Best guess is that home, or at least home base at the time, was never more than 80 miles away. We were ~600 miles from home last week and covered about that many miles in 6 days riding around the Keweenaw, but I don't think we ever got more than about 60 miles away from where we were staying. Road miles fly by, offroad is another ballgame. 30 miles into the trails, midway between "no" and "where" feels more like 120 miles. That same distance, on-road, feels like barely enough to get the motor fully warmed-up. Distance is, in part, a state of mind. Guess it largely depends on how long it would take to get home if the bike were to become unrideable.

BTW... I see that you've sourced the same model auxilliary fuel tank, my compliments on your selection.:24:

I do 30-40 mile rides quite often. Usually there is a group of 5-10 of us that take off and play on the back roads. We are not more than 15 miles away from our start point at ane given time though. Lots of fun.

My rides

When riding in western virginia, I have been as far as 250 miles away from my home base. When riding in western PA, I have been as far as about 165-170. In northeast PA, I have been as far away as 150 from base.

I mean..that's really nothing compared to the 1700 mile excursion. However, if I had the time, I'd take mine clear across to CA.

Next year, for vintage days Ohio, i am considering riding it all the way there. That will put me at about 450 miles.

I've never strayed more than 20 miles from my house or motorcycle trailer when riding. I've got a bigger, faster motorcycle for the long hauls.

Btc, yes that is Lake Michigan in the background. In the picture posted, I was parked at Oval Beach, Saugatuck 50 miles from my home in Plainwell.

Okay, relocated to the general category and I've made it a sticky for now. Should generate some interesting posts. After all, the bikes were made to be ridden, right?

Some friends of mine and I have gone on some 35 to 40 mile runs but are still within 20 miles or so of someones home. We were thinking of a run to the colorado river by Bullhead one of these days maybe over 3 days or so, I just broke my leg 2 weeks ago so maybe when I'm on the mend. still won't be anything like Chucks Ride that was so Bitchen!:red70:

I rode a stock GSXR50 on ride with friends on YSR's, an MB5, and an RD60 from Riverside to San Juan Capistrano by way of Ortega Highway a few years back. It was about 130 miles round trip.

This summer my wife rode her Honda Giorno and I my '81 CT and we made a few trips of 20 to 30 miles. The CT and my wife (lol) got lots of attention!
