Loose foot peg

Hi all,
My 70 CT70 has a footpeg that flips up too easily when bumped.
Is there a way to add tension to the ball and detent to take more force for it to fold up?
Open to suggestions.
Thanks

Maybe stretching the spring a little at a time and testing it each time to see if it tightens up (?)

The next size up from a #10 ball bearing might be an option...

Thanks for the ideas, I'll try those tips and get more aggressive as things progress.
I looked at the aftermarket assemblies too.
But they're quite a bit different than the OEM in appearance and function.
Wish there was an assembly that mimicked the original.
Thanks!

I’ve seen where the original spring gets so rusty that it’s basically stuck and no longer acting as a detent with the steel ball..if this is your case you can drill a small hole on the opposite side so you can use a small punch to drive all the stuck rusty parts out and replace with a new spring and ball…then braze, weld or j.b. Weld the small hole you drilled and grind smooth..no one will ever know being it’s facing straight downward.
