Low/No Spark

So I just got a CL175 and put new plugs, new battery, new fuel lines and it fired right up.

Now the plugs I got were DR8HA (resistor) instead of the recommended D8HA. The guy at the shop said it wouldnt matter if it was a resistor plug or not. So I got them.

Then I was out riding this morning, rode for about 30 mins no problem. Parked it went inside to get a drink and came back out and the bike had a harder time starting. But I got it going after a few tries with the electric starter. Rode again for a few more minutes, and during this time I was messing with the throttle cable nuts but the handlebars. Then it started to bog down. And now I cant get it started. It has very low to no spark. I tried the plug grounded to the fin on a ct70 and it had a very very strong spark so it is not the spark plug. This happens on both plugs.

So I have the bike on a battery tender right now trying to see if it is because it has a low charge on the battery which I would have a hard time believing since the battery is a new sealed battery. But could the points be bad now? Again it ran really strong and I was buzzing around, bike responded well to throttle etc. Then it has a little harder time starting, then I messed with the throttle cable by the twist throttle and all of the sudden the bike starts to bog down and now low to no spark.

Thanks for the advice and suggestions.

Well spark is back to being strong from both plugs. I guess the battery was low and that's something else to tackle later.

I took the bowls off of the carbs and the bowls have plenty of gas in them.

I find it really hard to believe I screwed it up that much by messing with the throttle cable nut at the handlebars. Shoulda just left it alone lol.

The more I ponder over this the more I think it is the carbs.

How can I tell if I am getting gas to the spark plugs hole from the carb? I took the plug out and smelled it and it didn't smell that much like gas at all really. It was a little wet but that's probably because I flooded it trying so many times tinkering with carb settings. Started at 7/8 Of a turn and then just kept adjusting 1\8 of s turn each time. I can get it to rumble for a second and then not sometimes.

Gas is in the carb bowl so I know it is at least getting that far. But I am thinking it is possible a jet is clogged? I mean it ran so well this morning... I was blasting up and down the street at 50 or so and still had a tad bit more left I think. My street is not very straight lol. Maybe something has jarred a little loose in the carb and got sucked up into the carb. The bike did apparently sit for an extended time before I bought it.

I'm sure I will get it. But this is going to bug me all vacation long as well leave Monday morning and I am not sure I'll be able to get into the carbs until after I get back. I'm sure my wife will be like this on vacation:.

So I pulled off one of the air filters today to see what was going on inside of the carb. With the air cleaner off I can see down the barrel and I can see a fine mist of gas being sprayed up through the carb. So that's good.

Charged the battery 100%, and pulled out the spark plug and hit the start button and without the plug being grounded the spark jumps to one of the engine fins. When it is grounded the spark isnt as strong and is more intermittent and not consistent. I know that when I ground the Ct70 spark plug to the fin (using the same plugs I have on the cl175) the spark is strong.

So is it a sign that something is wrong that the spark plug spark jumps to the fin without it being grounded to the engine fin or bolt? And then when it is grounded to the engine it has more of a hard time getting a spark?

I got it to sputter a few times but that is about it.

Any suggestions or is this not the right board for this and I should find a honda scrambler board?
