All parts of the bike are original. It is a 1974 K3 (low) numbers matching frame/engine ct70-23000456/ct70e-000434 built in May 1973, but it had been on fire/in a fire at one time. I used all the parts that were restorable. The only hard parts that were replaced were the headlight ears (which still had to be repaired!) and the turn signals (which I did not have). Otherwise, I used mostly NOS/OEM parts, or reproductions. The engine and all its components are original including the piston. The engine has been rebuilt with new gaskets, seals, and rings. The head was disassembled and cleaned. Valves were hand-lapped and the motor has strong compression. Otherwise, just lots of polishing, cleaning, and re-painting. I should have the chrome next week. I will also get to recover the seat using the original repaired seat pan! I hope to ride it sometime in the next two weeks! (but, I'll take some pics first for all you Trail 70 nuts!)
Cheers!

It's always good to see a Topaz K3 get the full makeover!
I am very partial to this year as it was my first CT! Being a early
built model you have both brake levers on the handlebars, right?
During this year build Honda quit putting the left rear brake lever on the
bars probably due to the cost of all the Chrome they put on these Chrome
Bonanza models. :24:
Here is a couple pics of my first all original CT and is my rider on the even days of the month! (have to share time with the HKO too)

Brian,
Yes it does have both brake levers. The original bars are getting re-chromed. Your bike looks nice! This is my first CT. I had it running just after I acquired it July 5. I wanted my kids to ride it, but it had lots of issues, most of them making it unsafe for a new rider. I decided to order a few parts initially, and with-in a few days it was a full blown resto! The paint turned out a little darker than original but it was my first non-rattle can paint job! I should be well schooled for my next bike, a 1972 HK1 junkyard frame and cardboard box full of parts. I found the HK1 when I was looking for headlight ears. I ended up buying ears on ebay for $60 and repairing major dents and creases in the tube. The chrome is good, however so a good buffing and they are now on the K3 waiting for the rest of the parts. The right ear is the one that was damaged. I'll post more pics this week as I move along.

Yeah, pretty close to Topaz Orange, Just deeper. Check House of Kolor digital color shapes and look at Tangerine. This is a Sherwin-Williams match for that.
Thought I would take a lot of heat on the forum for not using an original Honda Candy 3 stage paint on my resto K3, so I just called it "Topaz Orange" and went with it! Its actually not far off what I found unfaded inside the lower triple tree neck.
