My everyday driver for the past 26 years is a 72 Oldsmobile Cutlass Convertible.
She just turned a 100k miles last year and got great rebuilt overdrive transmission and engine; original rocket 350 got bored and stroked to 424 ci.
She was un-hit until Mar when we got rear ended at a stoplight. Metal is fixed, hope we can paint in September.View attachment 68604 View attachment 68605

Cant remember the name of the movie, but there is a Stephen King movie that had a black 66 Olds that the bad guy drove. On the back trunk lid it said, "HIGH TONED S.O.B.".

Oldsmobile - its an acronym. Old Ladies Driving Slowly Making Everybody Behind Infuriatingly Late Everytime

That is a beautiful car and a very nice story.

Maybe its a sign of getting old, but although I own 2 Corvettes, a '72 and an '06, most often I prefer driving around in my Metropolitan or my Karmann Ghia (all are convertibles). And though I sold my GSXR and still have my Road King, I prefer tooling around on my CT70 or my CL90. Life is sweet as 45 mph.

Nice car, enjoy it, but I would have held out for a V8 with a stick shift. My buddy had an '06 GT. Only had 300 horsepower back then, but enough to be fun and made the right sounds.

i didn't want a v8 or a stick, i have 26 years worth of sticking gears. had an '86 LX 5.0 with off road " H " pipe and no cats for a very long time so the quiet of my V6 is fine with me, i got exactly what i wanted

No problem, to each his own. But I bet you still miss that old fox body now and then. My work buddy had one which I enjoyed driving occasionally. But I'll never own an automatic, even my wife's SUV is a six speed manual. I don't particularly care for li'l Hondas with automatic clutches either.

My 82 Capri with a 351W, 4 speed and leaky T-tops. LOL My dad owned this car for at least 25 years. He wore out the anemic 302, put a 289 in it, wore it out, and put the 351 in it in 2008. He only put about 4k miles on it 8 years. He asked me in 2016 if I wanted it (he had an 88 GT also, but I chose the Capri) so I went to Salt Lake and towed it home. I drove it pretty regular until March of 2020 when the reg expired and I knew I was moving out of CA. I haven't reg'd it in ID yet cuz the rear main is leaking and I think to fix it requires trans removal and if I do that, I wanna put a 5 speed back in it.

In 05 my wife was talking about getting an old Mustang. I thought it was a good idea, but I wanted fast one. Then right after that I saw the new retro 05 Mustangs. Had to have one. I drove a V-6 model, it was super cool on the inside, but I wanted a GT. So, the 4th Ford dealer that I went to had a GT on the lot. I drove it, wanted it, but the wife said no way to the legend lime. So, we ordered a blue one. Hmmm I can't find a pic of my blue Mustang.

Here is a 2010 SHO Taurus that my oldest daughter won on the Price is Right. This thing was super fast and very nice. Due to her age and driving record she couldn't afford the insurance on it so she sold it.
