Points do suck. I'm going to check for bare wires I think that could be a problem thanks! In my future is a cdi conversion. What cdi conversion do I want to get, and from where? Cdi will have to wait a while way over budget now thanks

Here are some stator pics. My soldering skills are bad. Maybe I got the condenser too hot? But bike did run for 20-25 min spread out over 4 times and ran good idling light revving. I don't think I saw any bare wires Thanks Ron

That's the kit Ron. I put a small dab of lock tight on em, then epoxy behind the plate ''the 2 tiny screws'' as to make sure no oil can sneak past them. It's in the the ''tech section'' a few pages deep now. Check it out.

Your points LOOK like they are set to open REALLY big.
.016 inches.
POINT ZERO one six...when the flywheel is set to the T mark/line on the notch in the engine case.

Thanks guys found your tech tip old ct booked marked it put cdi in watch list. Will give points and everything a better look next weekend thanks again everyone!!

Ok so I ordered the CDI conversion. It shipped on saturday got to kansas tuesday delivered yesterday. I put locktite on screws and epoxy on back yesterday. Took 1/2 day off today put CDI on new spark plug started 3rd kick!!! Rode it up and down street couple times ran it about 15 min. Now has about 40 min run time on new top end. Going to check valve adjustment then run it some more. Of course its 90 degrees here now but glad it runs and no more points!! Ordered new float bowl try to get factory carb back on.

Nice. Like Darrell pointed out, if you have a replaceable headlight bulb, change it from the 15w/15w to a 25w/25w bulb. It's also a good idea to run the headlight when riding with the new cdi kit.

I will look at the headlight. I would imagine its original. I let it set 2 hours checked valves they were loose adjusted them started first kick! The lights are all working. Going to run it a couple more times today with cool off time in between. Going to rain here tomorrow

Well its been running over a week now! I have started and and ridden it 25 times. I'm calling it fixed! Going to enjoy it for a while, enter it in a car bike show this september. Then need to do oil spinner, oil screen, clutch, brakes and wheel bearings. Have all the parts already will wait until its cold to start all that. In the mean time I'm going to save for a new used blue Monkey. I have had all the full sized bikes and traffic that I need in my life. I like my neighborhood side street riding but need a little more power. I think Monkey is cool and would be perfect for me.

Sold some reloading supplies have $1,000 in the Monkey savings envelope. Hoping next year I can get one. Took the ct70 out for it's weekly ride today. Started first kick ran great.

Well sold a couple of my competition rifles. Have only shot 1 or 2 competitions in 4 years got the rest of the cash I need. Buying a blue 2021 monkey tomorrow . I have to drive 2 1/2 hours to pick it up. Dealers around me don't have one in stock I can walk in and buy and they want $500 over the $3999.00 and $250 doc fee and $200 shipping. Picking it up august 26. Driving 2 1/2 hours saved me the $500 over and only $50 doc fee. Can't wait to cruise the neighbor hood!!!

Nice. Your going to like it. It will only need a 36t rear sprocket or a 14t front sprocket to be just right. I spent a small fortune on upgrading mine and ended up selling all of the stuff I bought except the rear sprocket. It’s o e of my favorites Enjoy!!

Congrats on the new blue Monkey!
I took the opportunity to ride HG's a while back...what a nice bike!
What you need next is a 125cc CT70...+ A couple years to figure out which bike you ride the MOST. I have a feeling that the Monkey, might be THE bike, that could win that race.

I was also looking at 1970's yamaha 2 stroke enduros . In high school mid 80's I had a 1975 yamaha dt250. Looked for the last few months for one. All the good ones are on the west coast or in florida it seems like. Nothing good in the mid west. I do love 2 stroke's also. My first street bike when I was 16 years old was a 1974 rd350. In the late 90's I had an 1985 rz350 and a 1976 rd400 for about 5 years. There still might be a 2 stroke enduro in my future but not for a while. I bought the monkey in Jefferson City Missouri at Larry's Motorsports. Great guys great price $4,248.00 out the door. I still have to pay sales tax in Kansas. All the dealers in Kansas City were $800- $1000 more and they don't have one in stock. Larry's Motorsports had 2 more blue non ABS and 1 red monkey with ABS yesterday when I picked mine up
