I have a 1970 HKO that I just picked up with only 500 miles. The problem is that it won't start. It is getting gas, spark, intake valve is not too tight but I can't get it to start by licking it or pop starting it. The compression doesn't seem too strong but I can't see it having bad rings because of the very low original miles and the shape of the bike. Any advice and or tips would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Scott

if it has spark.fouled plug and or low compression is probably why its not starting.and the first thing i would check with a tester.

I got a compression tester yesterday and it has only about 10lbs of compression(if that). The piston still travels up and down. Anyone have any suggestions? I find it strange it has no compression given the low miles and good condition of the bike. I checked the intake valve and it is not too tight. I am open to any ideas. Thanks in advance.

It had oil in it when I got it and I could tell it was used. I sprayed some PB Blaster down in the cylinder through the spark plug hole...hoping that will do something.
It had been siiting for four year before I picked it up, the previous owner got it to run while I was there by pulling it behind the ATV and pop starting it but it died and we could not get it to start again. It is getting fuel, spark, points open and timing seems to be correct but no compression.

put a couple of mls of oil through the spark plug hole, then test the comp again. If compression goes up its the rings/bore that are stuffed, if doesnt go up in compression then its the top end. If it were me i'd just rip off the top end and find out, no matter whats wrong it needs to come off anyway

I'm pretty sure it is supposed to be pulling 120-150 psi?

yea it could easily be that someone ran it without oil then put oil in it after it was already too late. with that low of miles and such low of compression thats moist likely to be the cause unless it overheated pretty badly which i dont see happening too easily. so even with the low miles you should check out that the cylinder piston and rings and valves
