Hello honda people, so after 45 years in storage I finally pulled out my 69 honda ct70 and have the restoration on the way, long story short, can anyone suggest on how to install a new drive chain, seems simple but feedback is very helpul, thank you.
Yes it is simple - once you do it or been shown how .
The old chain needs looked at and deemed good / not good -
You need a master link - that allows a clip - you should see it on your old chain if still in an oval or possibly you undid that allready to remove from bike . If you undid the link - that will allow you to set beside new chain and address the total length required - taking into account the master link to join .
If your wondering how to shorten the new chain to correct length - you grind or file that post off on the chain then use a punch Or you use a chain breaker -basically a press .
If your not getting the jist - your going to have to read up or view " breaking chain Or installing new chain Or something to do with such on motorbikes . There is a search engine here - look into it
Or your going to find you need another new chain because the Simple job went sideways . It's Simple yet may challenge you - like most New experiences . Good to ask but be aware - if chain is bad - most times you need sprocket or sprockets . Hope this helps
Keep the old snap pin if its in good shape. Those are handy WHEN you loose one. Sometimes, when pried off, they will quickly reach escape velocity fast enough to enter another dimension...never to be seen again.
