New to the Hobby/Business

I just got into this hobby/business a year ago. It's been a slow start, but I Just finished my first Z50 K1. I have decided to do 4 bikes (1-Z50 K2, 1-CT70 KO and 2-CT70H KO's) at one time this go around. I am going to do all 4 engines first. Here are a few pic's of the first, all most complete engine and three of the 4 bikes I am working on. I will try to keep an updated post/pictures of my progress. I am sure it will take the better part of a year for me to complete them all.

I forgot to mention, I will be removing and repainting the right side clutch cover. I just ordered some Honda cloud silver paint. I will paint both side covers with this paint. I have done some experminting with different colors and haven't found anything that looks that close to the original.

Here is my first restore. Not the best, but she's not to bad for the first one. Notice the side cover, it's painted with Dupli-Wheel Cover 101. Not even close to matching the wheels.

Wow, I had a lot happen this week. I was diagnosed with some kind of infection in my gut, that set me back a few days. All better now though. My paint from vintagehondapaint.com showed up today. Warning-if you plan on buying some, it says "recomend using in 15 days" I wasn't planning on that. I had to start tearing down the CT70H that I was planning on painting Topaz Orange. I ordered the wrong color. The bike that is ready to be painted is a CT70 KO and it did not come in Topaz Orange, I think? Anyway here are a few pic's of the tear-down.

If it's a KO it would be Candy Gold, Candy Saphire Blue or Candy Ruby Red. Are you changing the EG on the stand to Topaz?

I hope your stomach gets better! Might be the Shiner! lol!!

Yes, I will be changing the one on the stand to topaz orange. I accidently ordered the topaz orange (and no it wasn't from drinking to many shinners!). I have two EG's so I figured I would go ahead and change the color of this one. Man, I better start hiding the beer bottles, I just noticed a Fosters in the last pic's.

Your Golf Cart looks very nice...I like that...Do you have any close up pics?

I can take some tomorrow and post them. It's really nothing special just has a lift kit, nice rims and tires. Only bought it to drive around the swap meets, that and when I went to look at them my grandaughter jump in this one and said we could not leave until I bought it, yes she has me wrapped around her little finger. I will be doing the un-restored Z50 in the above pic in PINK for her! I just rememebred I have some pic's of the golf cart when we decorated it for Halloween, I will post them.

Always in the pursuit of knowledge? What the heck is Shiner Beer:7:I'm sensing an inside joke.

Now I can really plug it! Shiner Beer is made at a little brewery in, here it goes, Shinner, Texas - www.shiner.com/ If you like a good beer you must try it. If you do try it, do not drink another beer before trying it, like Coors, Bud, Miller etc... you want like the Shiner if you do. I went down to visit the brewery during X-mas. It's a pretty neat place. I wouldn't make it my next vacation destination, but if your ever in the San Antonio/Houston area and your bored out of your mind and have several hours to spare, go visit it, tell em Rick sent you, you will enjoy yourself.

it's the hardner for clear that goes bad but you should have more than 15 days if you don't let the materails out in extream heat or cold, 15 day's is a good rule of thumb but iv'e used the same materials for up to six months

Thanks for the info, now that I've been working like a mad man to tear down the bike that I wanted to paint that color, my shop looks like a catagory CT70 huricane hit it! I really appreaciate all the info I recieve from this forum.

Some of the mid coats have activator in them also. If the paint has been reduced it will also go bad so leave everything sealed till your ready to paint.

Thanks, the instructions say the problem is evaporation. I am sure I will be OK. Well, in between mowing, edging and cleaning the pool, I managed to get the bike completely stripped and almost ready for painting. Since this will be my first attempt at a real paint job and it's a candy color to boot, wish me luck! In the picture is my new paint/work stand, if anyone is interested in having one of these for under 40 bucks, just ask and I shall tell. I will post another thread, but does any one have a good method of removing the ID Tag?
