Hi everyone. I recently received this 1970 (black tag 11/70 manufacturer date) CT70 passed down from my elderly father, who got it from his dad in 1987. So my late grandpa bought it new in 1970. All original, rarely used w/3,626 miles. Always stored in a shed or farm barn.
Lots of looking here and I haven't found a clear answer to the below without confusion...

So do I have a K0? Or what other model is it? HKO? How do you tell the differences?

I need that for the title and want to ensure the info put on the title is 100% accurate since I know these are valued collectibles. Frame VIN is CT70-225595
Black tag manufacturer date is 11/70
So I will be titling it as a 1970. Color Candy Gold?

Thank you for the help!

Yes, it's a K0 not an HK0 The HK0 has H in the vin where your bike says CT70. DMV doesn't care about the model K0 or HK0 or even ask about the manufacturing date. You can say it's a 1970 but please understand that Grandpa bought this bike that was sold off the showroom floor in 1971. It didn't make it to the U.S. from Japan in one month or before the new year. It would have been air mailed not slow boated here like it was! Your call really want year you want to put in, technically built in 70...1970 or 1971 will work.

Thank you! That is helpful! Does the average market value make a difference between having the title as '70 or '71?
Along with sentimental value, that's my 2nd goal is preserving value and accuracy.

Hi, no difference at all. Just keep it like you have it for the value. It would never be sold anyway right? Keep passing it down. The K0 Silver tags bring more than the K0 black tags in equal condition. But everyone loves the four speed HK0 and K0's. Here my 11th birthday present, still have it. I did save the original frame paint the K0 front end and all the original parts. I put the K1 hydraulic front end and better rear shocks for 50 mph street riding and built a 124 stroker H engine from a 100 ebay engine core, years ago.IMG_2790.jpg
