Hey Jeff here with recent purchase of these two CT70's, yellow dated 9/71 and blue 6/72. So are they a 1971 and 1972 or 1972 and 1973? Neither one is running currently. I rebuild both carbs and upgraded to CDI ignition. Blue one needs new harness since a mouse at the old one. Both bikes are 95% complete, blue one is missing tail light and they are both missing the engine guards. We will be camping off grid and deep into Canada/Alaska later this year once the border opens. We also have 11 grandkids who will be riding. I don't plan on re-painting etc. I want them running 100% and look forward to learning from you guys.

The Candy Yellow bike is a 1972 model year, known as a K1 model, 3 speed. The blue bike would be 1973 model. Which from what I have seen listed as either K1 or K2 model. It always confused me, maybe someone else can clarify that for both of us. Either way, you got some really nice rider quality bikes. And having the hydraulic telescopic front forks will be a huge plus if you intend on riding them often! Much nicer than the 69-71 pogo stick front forks in terms of ride quality.

welcome to lilhonda. A lot of great people here and knowledgeable, from just get it running to full blown restore, complete engine upgrades etc. Stay away from facebook no one wastes your time here.

The early model Honda CT70s didn't go by "build" years. They go by a "K" designation. you have a K1-Candy Yellow Special-3 speed semi automatic and a K2-Candy Riviera Blue-3 speed semi automatic.

Here is a link to an identification guide.

Nice find. Would like to see the VIN's and engine numbers on both bikes when you get a chance. I'm betting your blue K2 has a low production number since it says 6/72. Thats the month that the K1's were stopped and switched to the K2 production.

Nice bikes!!! If your not going to restore them and are going to let the kiddos ride them I would pull the tail light/license plate bracket off of the K1. That is a VERY hard part to find and if it’s in decent shape I would save it in case you want to restore it in the future. The K1 is a 1 off bike that has a few parts that are not shared with any of the other models which makes it more challenging to get it back 100% original.
