Yesterday, Wifey and me had a few jobs on the agenda. One of which was to rake the front yard. Our lone tree had dropped 80% of it's leaves, and the yard was gettin deep. I had planned about 2 hours to rake them into the street so our tax dollars could make them disappear.
We were busy moving furniture when a couple youngsters with rakes rang the bell. They asked me if they could rake the yard "for a few bucks". I said, "no but thank you for asking. That job is on our list today, we plan to do it in a little while." Then I knuckled both of them and said "Kudos to you guys for your ambition." As they walked away, Wifey said "WHAT??! You better hire those boys!" I instantly knew she was right. I called them back.

How much for the front yard?
10 or 15 dollars.
How about 20?
OK!

lol They did a fine job. I never should have flinched to hire those boys.

Reminds me of when my neighbors landscape guy was trimming their front yard bushes and I knew my two front bushes were in need of a trim. I always do my own landscape but b/c of triple digits was balking on the job.

I talked with the landscape guy and he was more than happy to take a $20 to trim two small bushes as a side job. Love the work ethic of these hard working Hispanics that choose working rather than taking a hand out.

I got no problem paying cash for money earned.

Since I have a brood (6 kids) instead of a family I hire one of them to do the raking & such. They become ambitious when I use the term: "It's a paying job." LOL!!!

In September ,I bought one of these .I had the old lady across the street in tears because the bears were in her crabapple trees ,so I grabbed my backpack blower ,blew them out of the tree ,( crab apples not the bears ) ' then blew everything through her fence into the bush behind her property . I use a mulching mower all year round, thing is awesome, no more picking up or making a pile of leaves or grass. Just do it once a week to keep grass/leaves in check.
