Planning ct70 winter project

Hey guys,
I'm already starting to plan my ct70 project for this winter.
This will be my fourth for me. Four years in a row! And, I love all of them.

Anyways, for this one I want to venture away from using the factory engine.
I am looking for serious performance.

As of now I am wanting to use a daytona 190 anima.
With this amount of engine I know I am going to have to address the wheels, brakes, and suspension. And, there are probably other areas I need to address as well that I'm not aware of.

Any suggestions where I should start looking for wheels, brakes, and suspension?
anyone else here have any first hand experience with the daytona 190 in a ct70?

Any mods need to be done to the frame to shoehorn it in?
I'm itching to do one.

I thought that motor was spose to bolt right up. Same issues as with a big lifan and such. Footpegs, turned out carb, bulbs & wiring, brake pedal maybe, speedo, cooler, exhaust, gearing, & large nuts. Braking and suspension...better is better, right up till you're flat broke. lol. I'd prolly be searching thru the big pitbike forum for some info.

Better check the engine mounts. If the top has the Kawasaki pattern, you'll have to cut the frame. Also a good idea to find out if the engine has a lighting coil and what type of piston is used (cut-skirt pistons reduce service life, due to increased thrust loading), static CR, if an oil cooler is required, operating rpm range and if there's any kind of warranty.

As for balancing the rest of the bike for 80mph power, you'll need it all...real suspension & brakes (cheap, cheerful & Chineezy ain't gonna cut it, especially over what passes for pavement in MI...ask me how I know) speed-rated tires fitted to wheels & hubs that are truly concentric, or you'll shake the bike to death. If you're going to use a K0 frame, better add some metal to the internal engine bracings; K0s tend to develop stress cracks when fed big torque. Mo`better to use a K1-later frame, with the stronger one-piece cradle. I'd also want to upgrade the front end geometry & weight balance for the sake of both safety & handling/stability. Above 60mph, you're into freeway speeds and everything changes dramatically with each 5-10mph increment; operating stresses, like power requirement, increase exponentially. I've seen guys go short on the non-glamor items. Brakes, rolling stock and suspension don't really call out attention the way hp & mph do. Still, being able to stop, maintain control, enough comfort to actually ride the kind of miles a high-powered bike should be able to cover and reliability are important. A machine that pulls the front wheel too easily, is squirrely at speed, unstable, and not reliable is more than just disappointing. Taking a 35-40mph bike beyond 60-65mph is more involved than most realize...until it's too late. It can be done; it's possible to rival a modded Grom and the price of admission is about the same. Successfully transforming a CT70 into a competent road bike is very satisfying. Just realize that this is stepping into the big league and should not be taken lightly. What you don't know can hurt you, or worse:cc_rip: Personal feelings aside (you couldn't pay me to ride some of the nice-looking deathtraps I've seen built), doing this right, the engine will be no more than 25-30% of the bottom line.

On the fitment side, a big carb & exhaust are no-brainers. You'll likely need a wider footrest assembly and a modified brake pedal to fit the motor.

I realize it will need to be done "right" if I choose to run a 190. I'm prepared to do that if I decide to go for it!
Now I just need to find sources for the front end, brakes, suspension etc etc.

Larry - there are several folks out there who have modified bikes with honda twins in them. Search for the Thing built by Grants Trail. Also look for ctynot' posts who has a 250 engine is his. Ridden them both and they're a blast.

Another friend just built a pair with 175s under the hood. Here is a pic of one of them.

The blue bike with the 175 twin title "Were going to need a bigger shoe horn", the frame is from a st 90. Scooter is your friends red bike frame a ct70 or a st90?
