Plastic Welding

The headlight bucket on the CT90 K1 I recently bought (for $200) is disintegrating. Touch the plastic and it cracks. Too much time stored in the sun I guess, over a period of 55 years. I was looking for a new (yellow) one and could not find one. Kirby on this forum generously offered to send me an old one of his that had a crack, but the plastic was still in good shape. I quickly accepted. Thanks Kirby!

I thought I'd show how I repaired the crack using a cheap plastic welder I bought. Melted three metal staples into the plastic across the crack, then took some of the plastic from the old headlight bucket and melted and smoothed that over the crack. Worked great and was easy. Pictures attached.

Nice work on that!
I got a plastic welder for Xmas last year. Haven't even tried it yet...but I see it's gonna be a handy tool to own. Thanks for sharing.
