Gotta love sapphire blue, it has a K2 rear bracket and levers-rear axle bolt needs to be reversed(threads L to R like the front hub) That bracket is worth some $$- harder to come by than a K1..
Of course you can just enjoy her as is!
I'll flip the bolt! LOL So does the K1 tail bracket bolt up in the same locations in the rear fender? Just good to know it case I ever want to get the right model year bracket. I like the saphire blue better than the candy personally, but it doesn't match the year, I'm okay with that though. Not going to stop me from riding it in parades or showing it.
Also, is it possible, like anything else made in the day, that it was a late model K1 in that it could have come with the next model year tail bracket, levers and paint? Just a thought.... I collect other things and it seems that when there are transitions, things are thrown on at the factory. Paint, I would think, would be something that would be pretty much from day one, but you never know. I guess I'll know the serial number soon, so then I'll post.
Regardless of the things that are not original, I am extremly happy with the purchase

Thanks Mark, seems like you do your research!
Are there any really good a history databases out there?
Thanks again
Jimmy
The brackets are interchangeable- yes the very late K1's could have possibly come with the K2 bracket If the VIN is north of say 230000. One of the late print date K1 owners manuals has a pic with the K2 bracket- seem to recall it had the K2 fender as well but not quite sure as i don't have that particular printing.
Honda definitely had a few oddball or " crossover" Z50's but most of these were KO and K1 models. One thing to note though just because it showed in the manual didn't mean it was produced like the pic.. case in point the first KO press photos showed a guy riding one with K3 slot wheels- those never were used in production.
Conversely the early K1 manuals showed them with KO fllat top seven rib seats- and those most definitely made it on to many early K1's. K1's had narrow and wide bridge fenders, 415 then 420 chains, pat pending then "approved" spark arrestors, short and long tail dyno covers-the very early one's even had KO frames with the ignition tang still on the barrel. They just used up inventory like car manufacturer did during that period. I have an all original early build 69Z28 that still retains it's 68 "shorty" deck lid spoiler.
Your bike has the correct color! It's candy/sapphire blue.. if your looking at that Z50 i.d. guide on Kenny's old website it's got a few errors on it. As far as i know the only color change during K1 production was the yellow- they had a bright then went to a semi mustard yellow.

That's real niiiiice! Congrats!!! Yup 40 years ago this spring I got mine brand new - red/silver '69 Z50 Mini-Trail.
Early 69 silver tag, which I think are hard to find? Was in nearly perfect condition before the dreaded "motorcycle" movers got a hold of it. "OH, we'll take real good care of it don't worry"....yeah right Showed up in the back of a van in a car carrier at 12:00 midnight. They put a ding in the tank and broke my dimmer switch housing Since picture I replaced the left brake lever with a old original, and have a old orginal switch housing. She runs awesome! Started on the first kick after God knows how long its been started....probably close to 40 years! Of the original little things that are cool. Has the orginal fuel line clips (red retainers). Has the orginal battery which has never been used. All orginal nuts and bolts the ones on the wheels still have yellow markings on them...don't know the reason for that???? Original operational tag on tank and arrestor gaurd. Just a nice little clean bike, with extremly nice paint! Now I have to sell the restored one above....
